It's very difficult to build a bankroll from scratch, the most important thing in this is the control of emotions

the bit about MTT's that OP posted hit me, as MTT's are my favorite by a wide margin ;/ the grind is real. I wouldnt expect mtt's to have that high of variance

Bovada gave me 5 bucks last week as a xmas gift to fund my empty account. While I don't like Bovada, I am up to $23.00 playing PLO H/L. I mostly play 5nl holdem on Americas Cardroom.

Great post! Sometimes is not your luck day and you should learn to stop playing before you lost some money

At this moment I'm playing only 0.02$ MTT 990pl. It's good for building bankroll cuz if I win this tournament i ll receive 220 buy-ins this is a real profit! :D
Also if you get in the money you ll win 5 buy-ins.
No more 0.10$ tournaments for me. I'm starting from here!

there are some sit and go satelites on full tilt where you can enter with 0.05 and , with 6 or 12 players, you can win (playing one bigger one with the prize of the last) up to a ticket of 50 dollars and , after ,with some KO tournaments and some luck you can win a lot of money

I went from 0 -> 50 on two different sites. I think it's fine to play freerolls and get some experience and go from there.

It can be hard if you get unlucky, but it's definitely possible to roll up.

BRM

Hello guys, I would really like to know your point of view. If I deposit 10$ on partypoker what should I play? 0,11$ - 0,22$ SNGs or cashgame? And if you suggest cashgame, which limits should I play in the beginning? When should I go on to the next level? It would be really nice if someone of you could tell me some tricks or how the BRM is working best, without loosing the whole bankroll in a short time. I know I must not play to big limits, but what limit is the right to start?
Best wishes, Watchurblinds

It's really complicated to start making money by freerolls. But i believe they are useful for learning strategies.

Yes I agree. Basically I'm doing the same, and my plan is to build up a usefull bankroll from freerolls and gift tickets. I did the same in the last year but lost everything when I tried to move forward with sport betting :( Some months ago I started again and actually I have a bit more than 10 dollars on PS. It's good to play on these games because I have a lot of opportunity to learn and bulid my bankroll too.

Wow ... really great post. I'd be lying if I said that I did not recognize myself in the post. I'm the one who after the $12 earned in freerolls decided that now is the time to take it to a higher level and more serious MTT. Lo and behold, I had success, I went up to $32. Whether I was lucky or I played really well, I do not know.

Soon after that I spent everything what I made it. I made deposit of $20 and got $20 bonus. It's $ 40 and it did not took 7 days. I jumped out of the tournament in the tournament, played Spin'n'Go, satellites to the Sunday Storm and when I couldn't get ticket then I paid $11. So that wasn't $11 buy-in, for me it was $16,50. I was more than sure that I will at least double up my investment if I don't make a few hundred.
What happened ... boom ... the third level I've already been expelled from table.

Yes I am now crying out loud, and I'm sorry for that but I hope that someone will read this and you will not fly as me and slam on the table. Now I know that I was lucky and that my game need so big improvement.

I can't believe this is the first I came across this. Although a lot was very relevant to FTP and everything around and up to Black Friday, much of this still is sound. I got caught up in many of the FTP Rush points races at the time. Looking back after the shutdown, it became very clear what they were up to.

Somethings that get dug up again and again usually are worth the time.

It would be interesting, if you haven't already, to see a retrospective post on this Oz!

Excellent post!!! Exactly what I was looking for. I won't be using it to build a bankroll from nothing, but it is sound bankroll advice regardless. Definitely taking notes and bookmarking this to re-read as I progress. Thank you for taking the time to make the post, and offer sound rebuttal to all that shared differing opinions.

Nice post, shame my friend did not run into this post a week ago. He won 160USD on 888 XL freeroll. Withdraw 100USD and enter casino with 60 where he earned another 200USD.

Then he played like crazy for three days and lost $260, so he has canceled his withdraw request and continue to play with 100USD until he get to zero in his balance.
I was very angry ant him(and still I'm). It took me a year to get to that amount. But that is his gambling spirit, million or nothing. :/
