I think BR = $10 is enough

25c buyins with a $10 bankroll = 40 buyins

That's not really properly rolled for any kind of game, let alone MTTs...

Very good thread . I agree with most of it . I must say when I began I played limit holdem to reduce the losses that I might have compared to playing no limit , but in the end I saw that playing limit holdem didin't protect me as I thought , I lost a lot of money as I wasn't playing with knowledge on the game , I was making raises and reraises to spots I shouldn't , I couldn't protect a hand... maybe I should have started playing freerolls or sth else to exercise first on holdem before I begin playing for profit.... Luckily , I was away from MTTs , only later I stareted the 0.1 on stars for fun , at least I didn't have losses...I followed the rule 20-30 buyins , it's better 50 buy ins , but I didn't have success on SNGs , later I played the 1$ SNGs on 888poker through the steps programm , not following the 50 buins rule as it's very easy converting 0.01 to 1$ but still no success . But now I'm bored .. wht's the point playing them if I cannot win ...

I think I must follow some of your advice , take things more seriously , study more the rules , play one only SNG ,the 0,10 for start ,focus on it (now once in a while if for fun I have the time to use the steps to play one tour 1$ ,I think it's ok , it doesn't hurt my wallet :) ) and after I I have studied more the rules maybe I begin to have some successes to the freerolls to build a decent bankroll (which freerolls btw are less these times compared to the time this thread was written , in my opinion ....where are the 100k, the weekly round2 , the bankrooll mob on stars etc:( ....)

Thanks for the post @OzExorcist, any books or articles you can recommend for single table SnGs?

There's probably people better placed to answer that one than me these days - it's been a while since I've played STTs at all. I switched to cash games after my wife and I had kids, since you can sit out at a moment's notice - something that'd be a disaster if you're multitabling SnGs :p

One of the best things I ever did for learning those games though was getting involved in the hand analysis forums on here. Go there, post hands, ask questions, give your thoughts on others and there's a heap you can learn.

Very good post.
I'm starting to play poker again. And why all this kind of reading materials serve me.
I'll see if I can keep learning things here in the forum, the truth is that the forum is very useful for everyone who wants to learn.

You have a very interesting strategy, but it should not be forgotten that the poker game is unpredictable - you can win playing at all 2 3 in preflop, and can suffer from AA defeat. The main rule - caution. Consider local players, the probability riposte combinations are superior to yours. And most importantly the behavior of the player after the opponents at the table, and do not forget to play with her

Yep, it's true, all sorts of stuff can happen on any given hand.

Which is why I strongly recommend doing everything you can to reduce your variance and protect your bankroll: NEVER jump up in stakes before you're properly rolled, and don't play games (like MTTs) that further increase your variance.

very good text.
Already I tried to build a bankroll from a deposit of $ 10 or more, playing sit go 0.25 to $ 0.50. but the amount of crazy players is similar to freerolls.
But I think as you said that luck also counts a lot. though she had abandoned me for a little time lol

Worst idea you can have is bluffing with short stack. You'll get called easily by a chip leader or any decent stackholder just to kick you off the tournament

I can resume it.

Just be patient, stick to a structured and specific plan. And you will see the results slowly.

for players who have experience in Freerolls I advise them to play on micro tournaments with their gain. For other modes of play is more complicated not to lose his bankroll.
like that you will decrease your losses while having a great chance of faires big gains.

Well since I play live, it's a tad different. At my local casino the lowest stake is 1-2NL ($40-$100) full ring cash game. Obviously you can't play with a "baby bankroll" considering you need 25-40 buy-ins to be properly rolled. Although, our casino does offer daily $45 buy-in tournaments with a $4k guarantee which could help in some way.

Stay within your budget, be patient and Make sure to maximize when you have the nuts. The biggest mistake you can make is to go too fast with too little money.

Great Post!
I have never been good at managing my bankroll. My problem has always been that gut feeling thing that tells me, "Go for it! Take that risk because it's gonna pay this time!" Discipline is key....I've built and destroyed many bankrolls that way.
Good advice !!)
