I considered it and I don't think so. Sure I'm not technically rolled to play $600 buy-in tourneys, but I definitely think I'm +ev in a field like this (with many hopefully coming from sattys) and I'm thinking it of basically a shot. If I lose the $600 sure it'll suck but it won't be the end of the world. If I win the package it'll be basically life-changing.

Yes welcome indeed. I had ATo at that nit table. Tenbob is going to learn that although monkeys can be cute they also can have very large fangs.

Trust me I will do my best. I just keep looking at the resort and thinking how sweet it would be in January compared to this shithole known as Cleveland (3 inches of snow last night, ugh). And of course playing in that large of a poker tournament would be damn sweet as well :). Please just let me run good for one tournament. If I make it into the PCA I promise I won't even complain if AA < 72o AIPF first hand of the tourney (ok maybe SLIGHT exagerattion :p).

**** 7 card stud. This game is such bullshit. Here's a hand very indicative of my session tonight. (The short version)

*** SHOW DOWN ***
UVA1973 shows [Qd Td 7d 5d 7c 2d 3h] a flush, Queen high
CeeNine mucks
UVA1973 wins the pot ($34.65) with a flush, Queen high
AAAJJWorm stands up
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $35.65 | Rake $1
Seat 1: UVA1973 showed [Qd Td 7d 5d 7c 2d 3h] and won ($34.65) with a flush, Queen high
Seat 3: CeeNine mucked [As Ah Ac 8c Kd Jh Th] - three of a kind, Aces

I can't deal with the ****ing swings. These players are absolutely terrible, and yet I have like a 10% edge. Its so retarded it makes me want to vomit. I've been on the worst downswing EVER!!!! ITS DRIVING ME NUTS, THANK GOD 6-MAX IS SO BLOODY ****ING PROFITABLE AHRHGHGHGHAHAHAHAHA

C9 ... dude really? again? I hope you can get over it man. You have such an edge in every game you play. Yeah that hand was BS and so are most of the ones that tilt you ... I hope you aren't as tilting as you might be as indicated from that last post. Don't let one $36 lost pot make you spew chips at 50nl because you were just dominating that game.

that's the wrong way of looking at it. the $600 is now his. it basically represents money in his account, like any other $600 he might win at 200NL, because he has the option of either using it towards the tournament or not. so the fact that he is taking a shot at something outside of his bankroll is relevant. but i say go for it

I understand your frustration but how is that any different then playing holdem and having a set of aces... and a flush on the board? I know it sucks but .........you couldv'e been all in. Btw been running like shit 3 days now gonna go back down, making me timid, I think I can still make gold.:)

Its different because of this:

As Ac Ah - 0.848
Qd Td 7d - 0.152

In hold'em, their odds of hitting a flush are greater, since they start with 4 cards to a flush. Even when he hits the next diamond, and he's holding all live cards, I'm still a 70:30 favorite over his hand when he has 3 cards to make his flush.

And thats probably the biggest edge you'll ever start with in this game. The problem with stud is that its not like hold'em. You're rarely a 4:1 favorite, and your edge is very small. It creates a lot of variance, its a roller coaster. Last night, the smack-tards ate 100$ from me, and it was pretty seriously tilting.

Vanq totally wins the tilt/omfgmydownswingsucks award tho. Mine's just like 100$, and I've been nasty profitz playing 6-max so it doesn't really matter. But vanq seems to have it a bit worse T_T.

Ummmm, time to switch to HU fulltime? I cant believe how bad people play HU, its so crazy.

lol very nice, but wait till you stop running like a god (although i'm sure you play very well that is pretty much a straight upward line). I've only played 4k hands total this month, and the vast majority of it has been me trying to play vs players who have been on the sickest heaters i have ever seen in my life...guys who will play almost 100% of their hands and who flop a pair every single hand, show up with a flush everytime it is 3 to a flush, flop a set everytime they have a pp, you'll 3B and hit TPTK and they will have peeled with 22 and hit a set, etc. Words cannot describe how frustrating it is to have a fish with a giant range who is never folding anything and the one time the entire session you can something you can value shove villain is always at the very top of their range, and everytime you run a bluff villain is at the top of their range and you just never catch any hand, and everytime you do you are either behind or get 0 action.

My HU experience has been "run at $1/hand for a while, lose at $1/hand for a while, rinse and repeat and try not to vomit".

But you are right, most of the players are terrible, however, when you run bad at HU trust me you can't even beat terrible players and it is v importing to be good at handling tilt.
