IT's ok KC, I've shoved a boat into Quads twice in the past 24 hours.

Stuff like my 77 vs TT on a TT7xx board.

Twice.

Nice to see you doing well KC. I, on the other hand, have seem to take a turn for the worse the past couple of days.

Internet down last night, apparently they messed the firewall up a bit and CC (along with my bank)'s web site was blocked. Haven't been able to get on but poker sucks. Finally was getting out of my initial -2k start to the month and now am back down to -500 after just breaking 0. But 2 5400 finishes and the $216 180-man score makes me barely positive on the month. I've been playing on a pace of 1500 vpps/day which translates to ~3500 hands/day. On pace if I can just get in another ~3k tonight. I think I may play the warmup and/or the million tomorrow. Still got one of my 5400 finishes in T$ form and should have enough to play another one tonight. If I win that I'll probably end up doing both.

Oh on another note, despite it feeling like I'm running worse than possible (set over set, KK < AA, etc.) somehow I'm like $800 above ev. So I run like shit before the money gets in but once the money's in Stars rigs it for me I guess :). I'm just hoping my memory isn't selective and I'm just running super good and still suck :(.

Haven't been in this thread since yesterday, so replying late.

Combus right about a risky chip accumulation strategy being viable in MTTs due to the top heavy payout. I've seen it a lot and even dabbled myself on occassion in tournies at the low end of my buy-in range.

This chap had shoved with minimal fold equity KTo in MP for no apparent reason I could discern and made a bunch of moves I couldn't make sense of even with a good aggro strat. As you can see enough to make me call with 99 (though I thought for a good while). He was chatting up a storm, not rude but very jokey about his own play. To be honest I'd go for drunk or blowing off steam :)

Or maybe he was doing an extremely good job of establishing an image. Even if he tells you his strategy, with you calling with 99 he can now profitably shove AT+/KT+/QT+/JT+ for flips (which are worth it because of top-heavy nature) and TT+ completely crushing you. Obviously you're calling with better but it's also possible you're calling a bit lighter (88? 77?). I don't know enough about MTTs so I'm not sure, but seems pretty viable. He needs to get people to call light before he can get some flips. If he's quiet and just shoves light and everyone folds that's not what he wants right? So he needs to make sure everyone notices and/or thinks he's drunk/blowing off steam.

You could be right Zach and it's an interesting thought, but he was playing really wild with multiple situations where he sucked out and was getting called by better hands precisely because of his image.

I do some things to mess with my image in MTTs (do it a lot in CC games) but this required him to be lucky 3 or 4 times to still be in it to exploit his image. Early on perhaps, but this was pretty deep... maybe though, there's always more to learn. Let's hope he googles this some day and explains :)
