That live game was terrible. AA about 20 hands in, folded to the SB who raises 5xbb, I 3 bet, she flats. Flop is Q92, and we get in, she has AQ and hits a Q on the turn. REBUY.

I get up to around 4x starting stack, and flop bottom set multi-way, and get in vs 2 overs with a gutshot, he fills the gutshot on the turn. Back to square 1.

Then just there, with an above average stack, utg min-raises, button min-reraises, I shove KK, both call because they have pairs (wtf) 22 and 88

Flop is 2 8 10 I'm busto.

honestly, just goes to show you how successful a seemingly overaggressive, anti-survival, get-the-chips-in-the-middle accumulating style can be given the ridiculously top-heavy nature of MTT payouts. i don't think enough people realize this

I know this is the point of them being high-variance, but take out his 2nd place finish in the $530 tourney and he's down 40k in the last 120 days.

well like you said, that's the point. take most of the top MTT players, take out their best finish over the last 120 days, and they'll be down money the majority of the time imo. yeah, we mostly hear about the ones who are on heaters like winning two majors in a matter of weeks (or days, or hours) but that's bound to happen to some people and generally unrealistic

and if you check his full tilt results he's also up about $300k there overall. i think i've seen his posts on 2+2, and overall i'm just quite confident that he absolutely knows what he's doing. i think rex made a hasty judgment about his play simply because he plays a different style, one that actually has a ton of merit in MTTs. that's the only point i'm getting at really
