Hi Jeff, What do you recomend on the downswing at poker???

When experiencing a downswing I recommend a few things. 1) Take an honest look at what is going on. Have you been running bad in big spots or do you feel like you have been getting your money in behind and being unsure. 2) Drop tables; I think playing too many tables is something most of us are guilty for and that could be a big adjustment right away to cut to 2 to 4 tables. 3) Have a friend analyze your game 4) Drop stakes 5) Increase your study to play ratio 6) take a break to detox! This should help!!

Enjoying your twitch feed from Nassau Jeff! It helps to see that a Pro like yourself catches some crazy bad luck (KK v 88) every once in while too. GL with the rest of your day.

Thank you! Those streams were lot of fun thanks for the support. Yes plenty of cold ones but some good runs & get there moments too! The bad ones do seem to always sting and stand out the most! Thanks again :)

Everyone please bear with Jeff - he is super busy playing in the WCOOP and streaming in Twitch - I have no idea how he juggles all that he does.

But he will stop by as often as he can. :)

:) yes! Getting caught up as we speak. Some amazing questions here, this is fun!

Thanks Jeff for taking time to answer questions.

My question is: How do you enhance your instinctive abilities?

Having a solid routine. Doing some mental prep work, meditation or work w/ primed mind or head space for example. Not just waking up and start to play. A cold shower I like as well and deep breathing helps a lot! It goes a long way the small stuff! It’s competitive out there you need to be laser when grinding!

Hi Jeff,

I'm wondering if you have a 'break routine' or what you generally do in breaks :)

Thanks for your time!

Hey! Yea so for the Twitch breaks while playing on pokerstars they are 5 minutes. I basically use restroom, eat quickly a snack, check some messages ( my wife) & check in w/ my power Mods to make sure all is smooth on the show. For Live tournaments I will try to find some quiet space, breathe and look at the upcoming level to see the ante/B.B. ratio & make sure I have a game plan for the upcoming levels. I am trying to be more present when at the tables live and not on my phone when playing. This helps me lot!

Hi Jeff. My name is Konstantin, on Twitch my username is exactly the same as on the forum strokin07. I watched your broadcast of the game on Twitch several times and I really liked it, especially your tactics of the game, just cool! Jeff, I wrote you messages, on Twitch several times, but maybe you did not notice them or were very focused on the game, because you did not answer me. The thing is, Jeff, that I do not know English well and can only write messages using an interpreter, but I really want to talk with you and ask a lot of questions about poker, well, about your interests and tastes. Jeff, I can write you short greetings and messages with encouragement, on Twitch, indicating in them that I'm from CardsChat, and in this thread I will ask questions, will it be normal, Jeff? ;)

Hey Konstantin! Yes you can ask questions here and no worries I understand! Yes on Twitch unfortunately i miss lots of questions with playing tables and focusing on the tables can cause me to miss some questions. I love to travel and spend time w/ friends and family and of course w/ my Wife Emilia! Look fwd to hearing more from you! Thank you for the support

Hello and thank you so much for being willing to answer so many questions!

My question is less about strategy and more interpersonal poker dynamics. I imagine it isn't often at your level that you run into an opponent who is just downright rude or unpleasant to the point where it is impacting the game and I know that live there are authority figures to intercede...

That all being said, how do you respond when this happens at a table?

Thank you again!

Thank you. I have played $100,000 Mtt buy ins and not cashed (have Action sold and swaps) but for Mtt this would have been. I play 200/400 NLH game and have had some sizable losses. I had a 10 month period before when was net down in 2013 before taking 2nd place in the $125,000 premier league VII at the PlayGround poker club in Montreal.
100k wow thats some spartan buy in awesome thanks for response good luck :)

Hey Jeff , Do you think online poker is lost to the Casino Corporates and an ever increasing profit driven reality hence the slow demise of the game.

Yes I really enjoy rebuy tournaments; it use to be my favorite the $33+r when I started playing online years ago. I actually played the $33r again earlier this year and had a nice result! Here is the YouTube video of it:

I always add on, think a big disadvantage if you don't do the add on is my belief.

Hi Jeff
How do I know if a poker site is really legitimate, after all this is internet and can and do people find loopholes. Played on Silver Sands site and it seems that once I get a large win, the dynamic of table changes and people come on to your table and within 2/3 hands you have lost all to very cagey hands. Even when I have AA, KK, i LOSE TO 3 6 OFF SIUTE ALWAYS SOMETHING RIDICULOUS.

This is hard to know but the more reputable a site the more likely it is legit. Remember the site makes money no matter what, so they are looking to keep the game play as fair as possible, as long as people are playing they make money, so they are not out to get you! Online you see more hands then live hence more crazy beats and situations.

Wich is your biggest win playing online poker?

I streamed for 25 hours straight; chopped the Million Dollar Sunday 3 ways w/ the most chips for $141,000. That was my biggest online win; you can also go to my website: JeffGrossPoker.com/results to see all results broken down. Also have highlight video from this run here:

I don't believe so. I think there was a few year period where things got very murky. I believe that the major sites having competition is great & it is making everyone raise the bar. Also w/ new games and variations of poker such as short deck I think this is going to keep everyone on their toes. Poker is timeless, it will always be around and that is what is so cool about it. 2 card NLH may not always be the most popular form but Poker is here to stay!

regulators

With Playing the lesser known or smaller sites many have certification from various associations or regulators do you trust any of these 2nd party regulators or just stick with the big sites?
Thanks Bear

I personally stick with the bigger sites but have friends who play on some smaller ones and have not had any issues. Really would suggest never keeping a large amount of money on those other sites, leave what your comfortable with only.

Hi Jeff, I subbed to your channel :) I was wondering if you thought having a set raise (I use 2.3 BB as my main) is better than constantly changing the sizes. I tend to raise the same no matter what to mask what I have, unless 3-betting of course.

How do you deal with stupid?

What I mean by this, is how to handle busting out of tournaments because you shoved all in preflop and got called by someone who had no business calling you? As an example, the other day I was playing and we were down to 13 with top 10 ITM. I was 12th with about 8 bb left and 7 at our table. Second to act, I have JQo. First folded, I shoved. Next folded, next called me (about 25% of his chips) and the rest folded. He turns over 42o and makes a straight to bust me. I don’t mind bubbling if he had a pocket pair, or Ax, or even something like 89s. But 42o?? I was steaming after. How do you handle situations like this? I know over time I want him to call with that but in a tournament you’re done. Hard way to go out after couple of hours of good play.

I found cardschat because of your stream. You give back so much to your community between the twitch and youtube content. I'm going to miss the streams.

When you're at a final table, how willing are you to chop? Even if you know the other players might be better than you, or are trying to pressure you into doing it?
So glad to hear you found CC from the stream! The streams aren't over, in fact I will be streaming this coming Monday (possibly Sunday). Chopping depends on many factors. Generally I don't like to chop but if you think the remaining players are strong players this can be an option. I did chop 3 handed the Million Dollar Sunday ( I posted a youtube highlight video of that in this forum a few replies above) where I had the most chips 3 handed for the Lions share. This was also because I had been streaming/playing for over 24 hours was fatigued and thought the players were strong and I was getting a solid deal. It was a $540 buy in w/ over 140k locked up and I was happy w/ that result. If you feel the other players really want the deal then this is a good time to leverage that and look for more, nothing wrong w/ that!
