Hi Ryan,

Thanks for being here and for answering all our questions. We're lucky to have you onboard!

I'm curious about your view of how live cash games compare to online microstakes. It seems to me that live $1/$2 plays like NL.10/.20 online, although preflop raises seem to be much larger live (4x/5x) than online (where I generally see 3x).

I find that my biggest adjustments are that it is so much easier to see pot size and stack sizes when playing online, and of course you get many more hands per hour online so it is easier to get reads on players online.

What do you see as the biggest adjustments when transitioning to live play and do you think live small stakes games are softer than microstakes online?

Hi Ryan,

This is my first post @cardschat. I play 6-Max PLO, mid-stakes. Most of the players on my table have VPIP > 60, PFR 10-25 (atleast 3-4 Players). Most common flop scenario is Single raised multiway pot with atleast 3-5 callers everytime. There 3-Bet range will be very nutted. And many prefer to limp aces also and not raise any street until they have hit hard.

Post flop their strategy mainly is to chase a lot and bet on nut draws, like nut flush draw etc. They will also make lot of non believer calls and float on weak hands. Most of the turns are also played multiway. There are less button steal, and an overall passive approach. If you try to make a steal on flop in position, there will be at least 2 callers.

Also there will be 1-2 short stacks who sit with 40BB. table ranges from 40BB-120BB and i prefer sitting with 80BB. Rake is 5% Capped to 8BB

For such special table : :confused::confused:

1> What should be my bankroll to start with? How much should i aim to win in one session.
2> How should I modulate my preflop range for every limper before me?
3> How should I use bluffs, as they call a lot ?
4> How should be the overall strategy and mentality for such a table?
5> What should be my VPIP, PFR?

Answer only questions of ur choice... thanks!

Best online cash games

Hi Ryan,

Where is the best online FL cash games? I've tried ignition Casino and I'm almost always alone at a table waiting for players who never show up. Doesn't matter what limit. I've heard their program recently changed. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey Ryan,

first, thank you for doing this. My question is how hard did you have to work at the start of your career to get where you are today? How much was it in terms of hours, how was that time divided between play/study/review? Thank you!

Yes, compared to us, this guy is a superstar!

You ever thought about taking some old random black guy (TravelerLloyd} and making him a star poker player before The Creator Calls him home? So he can make his family a bit wealthier and establish a remembrance to last a few generations?

haha if you want to see if hes a winning player I suggest starting here. http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=204537

Buying in.

I play loose and strong ranges well, and adjust to my opponents tendencies.

I have an exceptionally strong theory based game that can very quickly adjust to the game im in.

More specifically: My opening ranges, 3bet ranges, continuing vs 3bet ranges, cbet ranges, barreling ranges, check raising ranges, etc, etc. are all built around a very indepth understanding of the game and can adjust quickly and easily to my opponents.

Do you have any advice or resources on building/understanding how to build your ranges or read other's ranges?

I'm trying to play %30 preflop, but I also mostly play 6max cash games, so when I adjust my range for the frequent CO and button, my vpip gets to around %50. Which according to the internet is terrible, tho I'm doing quite well with it so far, in the 25/50cent NL

Also when I'm reading ranges, it's not super scientific. It's more like, this person seems LAG or tight, betting from SB so I'd assume with a looser range than usual, if he seems fishy. (People tend to take the SB as a part of their bet, and so they think they have better pot odds). IDK.

Is this something that just develops over time with experience, or is there some reputable resource out there that will help me?

Thanks!

Also, what's your favorite poker book?

A good 1-2 game live plays as soft or softer than most .02-.05 games online.

Generally live you deal with a lot more limpers and in general loose and sticky play, pretty rarely are people hyper aggressive.

Generally want to try to play fairly loose-aggressive pre-flop, but be tight-aggressive post flop. Playing a decent amount of hands as the aggressor and in position will set you up for a lot of very profitable post-flop situations.

Don't want to overly do it post flop though as most opponents really dont like to fold past the flop.

1: Generally want 50+ buy-ins for most cash games, this game does sound exceptionally soft, but being plo and playing lots of multi-way pots, i'd still want at least 50-buyins but maybe even 100.

2: You generally want to raise strong linear ranges in plo vs limps, as they will very rarely fold. I'd usually raise a pretty similar range to what i'd raise without the limpers, but cut off bottom 3-5% per limp, I'd generally just pot it.

3: Don't really bluff at all. Just pick the absolute best spots.

4:Won't you take me to "Value Town"! :p Patiently controlled aggression that focuses on pushing good equity.

5: Hard to say exact numbers, but i'd expect vpip around 25%, PFR around 15-20%, RFI around 20%.

Hey man which is the best website I can use in Puerto Rico? There's no pokerstars or 888 here. I've tried America's Cardoom, Black Chip Poker, Ignition, Bovada and BetOnline before but I don't trust some of these sites at times.

Also, how many 100 big blind buy ins should I have for a $0.25/$0.50 game or a $1.00/$2.00 or $2.00/$5.00?

Ask me anything Cash Game related that doesnt involve a specific hand!

Topics like: Theory questions, studying questions, mindset, game selection, bankroll management, staking industry, sites to play on, software and tools, where to play live, live adjustments, etc.

If you'd like my input on a handhistory please post it in the designated area of the site and I'll happily give my input!

I believe I am a good cash player although I need to stabilize myself emotionally again

When you are sitting too deep for comfort or have hit a good profit or loss number.

Bet Online, Bovada, Global are your easiest options, ACR is also ok.

100buyins minimum for any cash, especially true when you play 50nl+.

For $2.5-5$ I'd want at least a $75,000 roll.
