Nathan, how often do you lose all in cash one cent two cent 9max games?

I couldn't say for sure but I have millions of hands in low stakes games like this over the years. I am sure I have lost plenty!

Usually I do have an edge when all the money goes in the middle though, so I just let the math play itself out over the long run.

"Crushing The Microstakes" comment

Mr. Williams,

I am on page 193 in this book. I wanted to post a comment about what I am reading.

Sir, I have read many poker books. I do mean MANY. Your book is absolutely, hands down, the most informative book I have EVER read. Books I have read do not go into the details that you have. I know, without a doubt, that this book has laid out a template that lays it all out. Huge amounts of information. HUD information, that I have been overlooking has become a very important tool. Amounts to bet and when and with what hands could not be explained any better.

What amazes me is that you, being so young, have learned all this information! My first challenge will be remembering. My second challenge is called GUTS. I am anxious to finish the rest of the book, review all notes made while reading and then continue to review. This stuff is amazing, Nathan.

From what I have read so far, my HUD information became, for the first time ever, very important, my betting techniques are improving like wine, CBETs became part of my evryday vocabulary, and my cash games are beginning to reflect what I have learned.

I hope that others read this and realize that your material is that detailed and not an "adventure" book with old tables seen time and time again. I can not imagine your IQ, but it would not surprise me to know it's way out there.

So, thankyou very much for what you are offering folks like me and at a price that, after reading this book, is grossly underpriced. That is another reflection of your character.

Have a great day, Nathan and best of luck at the tables. Cheers!

Hey Dan'O,

Thanks for the kind words, I am glad my book is helping you! Especially the HUD stuff, I know it can be a little bit too much for some people, but I wanted to be thorough.

In this week's new video, I review two poker hands, both from a $100 buyin 6max cash game.

First hand is versus a rec player where we stack him with a suited connector. Second hand is a big bluff versus a good player.

Hope you guys enjoy this one!

Hi. How could I play in tournaments against those players who go "all in" with cards (J, 4); (Q, 3); (K, 5), of course different colors? Of course they have big stack, as a result of winning several hands in a row going all in, several times in a row.

Hello! I know about your 2 books, Crushing the microstakes and Modern small stakes. Are there any other books published on poker by your authorship? Or are you just video blogging now?

Hey Hasmas,

You wait for a better hand than them. Eventually the math will work out for you (you can't fight the math in poker and win in the long run). They will lose in the end, and you will win.

Cash Game struggles.

Over the last 12 sessions I've played on cash, .25/.50 I have lost 10 of them and barely broke even on the other two. Sessions average about 1 hour each. Is this just variance or is this an exceptionally poor run? Also I have 14k hands played and am running at -7.40 for BB/100, is this absolutely terrible?

I was at one point a pretty successful tourney player (2010s, when things were a little easier) and have been attempting to transition to cash. I tend to do well in live cash but have struggled to link together winning sessions in online cash.

Hey everyone,

My name is Nathan "BlackRain79" Williams. I am a 10+ year poker pro, 3 time poker author and the founder of www.blackrain79.com

It was also around 7 years ago that I decided to sell everything I own, hop on a one way flight to Bangkok, Thailand and travel the world. I am from Vancouver, Canada by the way.

I have been active here on CardsChat for many years and this is the only major poker forum that I consistently recommend, besides my own.

And that is because I have always found CardsChat to be a positive, welcoming environment especially for beginners who want to learn and improve.

Throughout my own poker career I have been mostly a cash game specialist and I am best known for having some of the highest winnings in online poker history at the micro stakes.

I would be happy to answer any poker questions you may have. Or anything else in general! :)

Although for specific poker hands, please post those in the relevant poker hand analysis sections here on CC. I will be active there also.

Thanks

Nathan

Hey Nathan, first off thanks for taking the time to help out the community!

How do you feel about fast fold poker formats? Are they worth playing to make a profit or do they mess with the fundamentals of poker too much bouncing you between tables and positions?

Second, whats your stance on mult-tabling, do you think it should be done or to focus all attention on playing one table as well as possible?

Thanks!

Unfortunately bad runs like this can occur that are just completely variance. Your best bet is to review your hands and look for signs of bad play or tilt.

If you can't find much, then it really is just the routine ups and downs of the game that we all go through sometimes.

I think fast fold is good for people who want to sit down and play right away, and get a lot of hands in. But these games do tend to be a bit tighter and difficult to beat.

I have multi-tabled throughout my entire career. I think if you can handle more than one table, it's always gonna multiple your profits. But you shouldn't force it.

Hi Nathan,

In one of your recent videos, you mentioned that a good win rate at 2NL is 15 bb/100. Is that net after rake? Primedope (https://www.primedope.com/online-poker-rake-comparison-rake-calculator/) lists rake per 100 hands (6-handed, non-Zoom) as over 13 bb/100 for most poker sites (pokerstars' is 9bb/100.) I've been wanting so much to playing cash microstakes, and you videos and books have been much help to my tournament game, but I am very unsure of how to be profitable playing cash games at these high rakes.

Hi Nathan. Just watched your vid about that poker is rigged, have one question.
So a guy lmpled in that video, another gou raised 3x and got 4 callers.
So, the question is, why even bother raising if you get so many callers? If you play with bunch of callstations, why not just limp and bet your hand for value?
Or if you wana raise with some aces and stuff, just go with much biger size, like 6x or 9x, just find the sizing that gets enough folds.
p.s. 2 days ago i played 4k gtd on GG i raised 2x dude 3bet to 7 and got 6 callers :confused::eek::D:deal:

Hey emzadii,

Yes, all the winrates that I listed in that video are after rake.

Hey abg,

I made that video quite awhile ago so I forget how the action went exactly, but typically you want to raise to isolate the limpers. Even though you won't win every pot, statistically you will win a lot more over the long run by simply being able to lean on them and make them fold with continuation bets.
