i am currently doing my own Zero-To-Hero Challenge on two
poker sites
i start with nothing and play in freerolls to generate funds, then i grind up a bankroll from there
for me, i do not play any cash games, but that's just my own preference, i only play tournaments.
i think playing cash games is far too risky for my challenge, the reward-to-risk ratio of tournaments is perfect for it.
on one site, i recently hit a new bankroll high of over 700 dollars, currently at 625.
on the other site, i also recently made my two biggest scores to date and am now at 60.
i have been stuck at less than 10 dollars for a full year so it feels great to finally break out of the rut i've been in
its a slow grind, there are a lot of "close but no cigar" type of frustrating failures, but i am convinced that with proper bankroll management and with good poker skills, this Challenge can be accomplished.
The hardest part is just getting started... I've gotten over that significant hump on both sites, thanks to the generosity of site freerolls and of places like Cards Chat... from there, it's just a matter of good play and investing your time at the tables, because any poker player worth their salt should understand that the luck factor goes to zero over the long haul so if we can adopt the long-term view we should never have any doubt we can achieve our goal no matter how high we set it. Best wishes at the tables, and while I often say "good luck", we know we don't really need it!
