good luck to Sweden to defeat Canada I believe they will do so! shame that the US lost to Canada but still the US is better at just about all other major sports other than hockey even though even there the US is better some years and some not, just an off year for Merica

You shouldn't be surprised to know that every single Olympiad on the U.S. and canada team are from the NHL. Furthermore, 50% of the NHL are actually from Canada. Another 35% are actually from the U.S., and 15% from elsewhere, naturally mostly from Russia and Scandinavia.

did not know it was as much as 50% from Canada, I would also think that 15% is bigger than that because of so much talent in sweden, finland, Russia, switzerland, and all the other good hockey countries but hey good for Canada I respect countries who put a crazy focus on 1 or 2 sports and go on to become one of if not the best at that sport, that's why I think it is amazing that The netherlands are on a whole other level at speed skating then the rest of the world and the Olympics showcases these amazing feats

Well, consider it hearsay, I got it from a guy on my football forum, but he's from Canada. http://nflfanforums.proboards.com/thread/3546/winter-olympics?page=15
Check him out 'jindred' on that page. One of the coolest and most trustworthy people there, and I MISSPOKE!!! Canada is 50% but U.S. he says is only 20%. So you called it right. lol Sorry the previous numbers I quoted were off the top of my head, which is apparently pretty airy. hehe Oh, he also says there that as little as maybe 10 years ago it was like 75% Canadian.

EDIT: So Canadians have at least 1/2 the NHL to choose from, and the U.S. has the other half, which is also comprised of some of those other countries. Funny, a few of those were actually representing their home teams, like Slovenia, Russia, etc.
