The midfield apart from Barry was pretty bad against the Algerians. Definitely bring Joe in on the left assuming he's fit, as he brings ball retention and dribbling to the team and really has no fear, and drop Heskey - he just moves and plays like an elephant. I'd have a serious look at Lampard and Rooney in training - they looked absolutely over the top on Friday. If they were up for it, I'd play Rooney and have both Lampard and Gerrard playing off of him when we attack, Barry to anchor the midfield, and tell Lennon/Phillips and Joe Cole to beat their fullbacks. I'd also ease up on the training schedule and look at whatever dietary schedule they're on. Most of them look overtrained and lethargic, e.g Caragher, Terry and Johnson as well as Lampard, so something is definitely wrong there. Then cross my fingers and hope for something completely different from Friday's rubbish.
All this sounds good to me. Got to try something different.
On the bright side, france are in even more disarray than England, and Italy are losing to new zealand after 20 minutes!
Paraguay looked solid against Slovakia and could be good outsiders, especially as they beat both brazil & argentina in qualifying.
