XL Blizzard Day 9: “LucySagara70” Claims 2nd Title for the Netherlands, “grigorq77” Wins
Mini Knockout
Day 9 of XL Blizzard, an 11-day series that runs through this Sunday, offered up a trio of events.
That means just seven events from the 34-tournament schedule remain including tomorrow’s
$160 buy-in Event #28: $50,000 6-Max and Sunday’s $1,050 buy-in, $1,000,000 GTD Main
Event.
For the XL Blizzard we offered new promotions such as awarding big cash prizes to anyone who
wins multiple events ($1,000,000 if you can win five of them), a “Bubble of Bubbles”
tournament (gain entry if/when you bubble a tournament), and the return of the Champion of
Champions event. Thus far, no one has been able to win multiple tournaments.
The Champion of Champions returns for the XL Blizzard series and one lucky 888poker player
will win a $12,000 WSOP Vegas package. Each time you play in an XL Blizzard event, you earn
leaderboard points. The top 50 players on the leaderboard receive a ticket to the Champion of
Champions tournament to be held at 18:00 GMT on January 30.
Here’s a look at the current leaderboard:
Also, here’s a quick recap of what’s happened in the XL Blizzard thus far:

“LucySagara70” Knocks Out Competition for Netherlands’ 2nd Title
The highlight tournament of the day was the $150 buy-in Event #25: $25,000 Knockout, which
easily crushed its guarantee by attracting 245 players. That created a $35,045 total prize pool that
was spilt into $25K going to the regular pool and $10,045 into the bounty pool.
Canada’s “bluffing420s” bubbled in 37th place, meaning he earned a seat into the “Bubble of
Bubbles” tournament. He also claimed $123 in bounties. Among those to cash were “timtimmis”
(27th for $212.50 and $164 in bounties), XL Blizzard Event #8 champ “msksevart” (23rd for
$212.50 and $164 in bounties), “RakDoll” (11th for $400 and $164 in bounties), Fabrizio
“DrMiKee” Gonzalez (7th for $875and $492 in bounties), and “HotSauce86” (4th for $2,125 and
$369 in bounties).
After Sweden’s Jerry “Perrymejsen” Ödeen, who was April’s biggest Sunday online winner on
888poker, bowed out in third place for $2,825 and $369 in bounties, the title came down to the
UK’s “Patsharpe” and the Netherlands’ “LucySagara70.” After 9 hours and 42 minutes in the
tournament, the Dutchie claimed victory for $5,112.50 and $410 in bounties (Jans “Graftekkel”
Arends, who won the Opening Event for more than $17K, is the only other player from the
Netherlands to win a XL Blizzard title thus far). The Brit took home $3,750 and $348.50 in
bounties to help soothe the pain.
If you recall, “LucySagara70” finished fifth in the XL Eclipse Opening Event for $16,387.50
back in September.
“grigorq77” a Mini Bounty Hunter
The $35 buy-in Event #26: $10,000 Mini Knockout drew 731 entries, which more than doubled
the advertised guarantee by creating a $23,757.50 prize pool. Of that, $18,275 went into the
regular prize pool and $5,482.50 into the bounty prize pool.
The top 99 players got paid, which meant 100th
-place finisher “BernardoDG” left with $15 in
bounties and a seat into the “Bubble of Bubbles” tournament. Among those to cash were
“dappaHD” (42nd for $69.44 and $56.25 in bounties), “ginus09” (23rd for $91.37 and $22.50 in
bounties), XL Blizzard Event #20 champ “JohnJones34” (9th for $237.57 and $37.50 in
bounties), XL Eclipse “vampa500” (6th for $767.55 and $37.50 in bounties), and “SollenAA” (3rd
for $1,809.22 and $90 in bounties).
After 9 hours and 9 minutes, the final two players struck a deal. “SeauZezinho23” ended up
finishing in second place for $2,858.07 and $105 in bounties, while “grigorq77” claimed the title,
a $2,889.84 prize, and $97.50 in bounties.
