“D3n1sk4PP” Wins 2019 XL Inferno Main Event; “Tuna_lover” Claims Two Titles
The 2019 XL Inferno wrapped up on Sunday as 888poker hosted the final three tournaments on the 34-event schedule. Over the course of the series, 39,378 entrants competed and $1,695,881 in prize money was awarded.
Here’s a look at some highlights from the last four days of the 2019 XL Inferno.
The $250 buy-in Event #32: $500,000 Main Event just snuck past its guarantee by attracting 1,634 players who rebought 502 time, which created a $501,960 prize pool paid out to the top 207 players.
Among those to cash the tournament were 888poker Ambassador Chris “888Moorman” Moorman (136th - $702.74), Nicolas “PKaiser” Fierro (72nd - $1,104.31), “23NoraB” (32nd - $1,656.46), “InJeBakkes” (21st - $1,907.44), “Drawhappy” (6th - $19,074.48), and “forza749” (4th - $32,627.40).
The last 888poker Ambassador standing fell in Level 25 (20,000/40,000/5,000) when Serbia’s “mr.Frodo91” raised to 80,000 from the hijack and Sofia 0Lövgren defended her big blind to see a 4♣Q♣A♥ flop.
Lövgren checked and “mr.Frodo91” bet 74,240. Lövgren check-raised all in holding the 8♣5♣ for a flush draw and her opponent called with the A♣9♦. Neither the Q♦ turn nor J♥ river helped Lövgren and she exited in 60th place for $1,205.
At the final table, the final three players worked a deal before playing it out. That is when “lucasfalves9” got his stack in holding the K♦J♥ and failed to get there against the A♣Q♥ of Brazil’s “LuisRRRRR.”
That set up a heads-up match with the Brazilian holding a slight chip lead over Russia’s “D3n1sk4PP.” The duo would exchange the chip lead several times before the final hand took place after 14 hours and 9 minutes in the tournament.
It happened when “LuisRRRRR” moved all in with the K♥J♥ and “D3n1sk4PP” called holding the Q♦Q♠. the board ran out 5♠9♣A♥5♦4♥ and the ladies held to give the Russia the biggest first-place prize of the 2019 XL Inferno.
XL Eclipse Champ Richard “ChipsFool” Hoadley Claims Inferno Title
The $160 buy-in Event #23: $50,000 PKO 8-Max didn’t have any problem surpassing its guarantee as 343 players rebought 119 times to create a $69,300 prize pool. That was split evenly between the regular and bounty prize pools.
Among those to finish in the top 48 and get a piece of it were XL Blizzard champ “IlovePickles” (25th - $235.62 + $75 in bounties), “ZDamian” (13th - $467.77 + $468.76 in bounties), “KeepTrying05” (5th - $1,819.12 + $834.38 in bounties), and “HermanMelvin” (3rd - $3,724.87 + $1,205.86 in bounties).
After 8 hours and 49 minutes, it was the UK’s Richard “ChipsFool” Hoadley defeating Russia’s LeslieGroves” in heads-up play to win the title and $6,670.28 top prize, plus an additional $5,225.05 progressive bounty.
You might remember that in last September’s XL Eclipse, Hoadley topped a 1,002-entry field to win the Opening Event for nearly $19k.
“Tuna_lover” Becomes Two-Time 2019 XL Inferno Champ
The $55 buy-in Event #26: $30,000 DeepStack saw 544 players rebuy 176 times to create a $36,000 prize pool. After nearly 10 hours of play, the tournament came to an end after a heads-up deal between the UK’s “Tuna_lover” and Brazil’s “LeoJoseCarne.” The former finished in first place for $6,581.64 while the latter took second for $5,208.36.
It actually marked the second win of the series for “Tuna_lover” after he topped a 685-entry field to win Event #4: $30,000 PKO for $5,519.90 in prize money.
Brazil’s “EduAraujo” Turns $33 into $12,333.85 Payday
While the XL Inferno Main Event recapped above was the premier tournament of the series, there were actually two other events playing out on Sunday. That included the $33 buy-in Event #33: $50,000 Mini Main Event, a tournament that drew 1,805 players who rebought 629 times. The 2,434-entry field resulted in a $73,020 prize pool that was paid out to the top 207 players.
Among those to make a deep run were “Kezlord” (29th - $240.96), “hackket” (18th - $328.59), “Msea_13” (13th - $474.63), “Kaktus26rus” (8th - $1,387.38), “Charlymogo” (6th - $2,774.76), and “Blackfile888” (3rd - $6,717.84).
After 10 hours and 20 minutes, Brazil’s “EduAraujo” defeated the UK’s “Nacenacja” in heads-up play to claim the title and accompanying $12,333.85 first-place prize. It marked the fourth 2019 XL Inferno title won by a Brazilian.
Finally, Lithuania’s “vascoscruz” navigated a 3,562-entry field to win the $5.50 buy-in Event #34: Micro Main Event turning his small investment into a $2,656.15 payday!
