The US court decision today, should make it's own citizens realize the utter contempt it has for them. I recall a saying that goes like this, " your born, you keep your head down, and you die,,,,,,if your lucky". It appears at every stage inbetween, your elected government will screw you. I guess that's why you keep your head down. In it's infancy as a self governed democracy, it's leaders and elected members, were honourable and respected men. Those days are long gone when you look back at modern history. Sacrifice the many for the few, has long been the call of the gravy train that greases the walls of so called democracy.

pokerstars IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Just popped up. It says a lot of nothing but the main statement is:

"Please be assured player balances are safe. There is no cause for concern."

Just registered for a 3.30 tournament, $6,000 guaranteed, but it's rebuy. 190 entries so far.

The only way we're going to lose our bankrolls is if PS and FT both go bankrupt, and I don't believe the US market is that large of a % of the market. Anyone have any real stats of what percentage of the online market was American? I guess % of deposits is the real question.
US is the #1 poker market in the world by far -- last I read it was like 5x the size of #2 and like double the total market of the next 4-5 countries on the list combined. Losing the US market will be a huge blow to all of these sites, perhaps not fatal to PS/FT, but possibly to Cereus and certainly to any smaller sites/networks that might be affected next.

PS and FTP will lose soooo much money in overlays in SCOOP and FTOPS if USA players cant play and they don't lower the guarentee.

lol I don't know, but when I am playing and see a post in all caps saying DO NOT REGISTER FOR ANY REAL MONEY GAMES ON FULL TILT, it freaks me out.

Eh. Im attempting to finish my Take 2. Wish I hadn't missed a day already, doubtful real money games for US players will last another 25 hours.

Important Notice from PokerStars

As you may have heard, we have had to suspend real money poker services to people based in the US due to legal developments there. These developments are confined to the US and do not have any impace on your ability to continue using our services.

Please be assured player balances are safe. There is no cause for concern. For all customers outside the US it is business as usual.

The PokerStars website has been moved to www.pokerstars.eu, and our Support email address is now support@pokerstars.eu. We apologise to our players for any inconvenience caused by this disruption.

Please be aware we are currently experiencing a very high volume of emails, so our response times are delayed. We will answer player emails as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

No doubt those guarantees will be lowered before the large Sunday tourneys.

Guess I'll go back to drinking beer and smoking weed instead of playing poker.

FT's SSL certificate has been revoked, so you can't see your promotions, Take2 stats, etc.

EDIT: Firefox 4 won't display their page, but Chrome does. It might have cached the cert from before though.

I'm glad I live in Canada where I am not affected..but god help us if Harper gets a majority govt in the election next month. Him and his puritannical cronies will no doubt try to muzzle online poker for us now that the US govt has made a move.

?? I just checked mine; just finished the Take 2 for today.
Yeah I edited my post to say it seem to work with Chrome, but not with FF4. If I had to guess, your browser and my Chrome already had the cert cached. Or maybe your browser is configured to ignore revoked certs (generally a bad idea). Generally, Certificate Authorities (CA's) revoke certificates when they're determined to be a scam site or other disreputable domain. I expect DOJ as part of the domain seizure went about having their certs revoked. I expect FT will shift people to their .eu or other TLDs like Stars is doing.

How crucial is the US poker playing base to the long term viability of site's like Stars & FT, do you think? Would the current non-US traffic be able to support anything close to # of current online pro's that there are?
