Wow. Lots of great detailed info in this blog post:

http://www.nsdpoker.com/2011/04/chicken-little/

So these legal actions are not directed at online poker itself. They are directed at the sneaky ways the poker sites and payment processors did business.

I feel a little tiny bit better now. But not much.

But its like taxing the crap out of cigarettes and banning smoking everywhere. Its not illegal to smoke but they make it as hard as possible to do so.

Same thing with online poker. Its not illegal but the funelling of money by financial institutions to online poker sites is illegal.

I requested a check from Stars while I was freaking out when this 1st hit. But I cancelled it after I thought about how valid the Payment processor's check might or might not be. I'd rather wait it out than be sent a worthless check and deal with bank return fees.

I get that. I also asked for my PS money -- but have no clue where a check could be sent from with payment processors cut off. No point in leaving money at PS if I can't use it. I'll deal with bank fees if the check bounces.

Leaving my money at Tilt (and other places) for now. Do not know if I will see it again. I checked the tweets of some of the online name pros -- some seem anxious, some figure they will get most of their money eventually. They have a lot more money on these sites than I do...

Realistically, this has always been a risk. I hate what's happening and it will likely alter the structure of most of my days, being a poker addict. But I can't say I never imagined this happening.

For the web sites, or the poker software? I'm on the west coast playing on Absolute now and hope my session isn't unceremoniously killed mid-play.

That's the odd part, UIC server is still good.

So does everyone really think we're really going to lose our bankrolls? Haha I'm thinking about dumping my money off to someone non-US and hoping they're honest enough to cut me a check hahaha.

They're broadcasting about it on hold'em radio too

Don't they see this is just as useless as "the war on drugs" or the "war on terror." There will be 50 poker sites that step up and take their place. I mean WTF are they gonna do start dropping bombs on offshore islands? No way they can prosecute them all. Too much money involved for people not to take a chance. All they are doing is wasting our taxpayer money. BS. I'm moving to canada. Even if I don't I won't be playing in any American casino's. They don't deserve my poker winning tax dollars. Dicks.

They don't care that the war on drugs and the war on terror are failures. Too much money to be made on both. The war on poker is all about the money too.

DO NOT REGISTER FOR ANY real money GAMES ON FTP:

Dublin ireland (April 15, 2011)- full tilt poker is saddened by today's charges against its CEO Raymond Bitar and offers its full support to Mr. Bitar and Nelson Burtnick.

Online poker is a game of skill enjoyed by tens of millions of people in the United States and across the world. And, Full Tilt Poker remains as committed as ever to preserving the rights of those players to play the game they love online.

Mr. Bitar and Full Tilt Poker believe online poker is legal - a position also taken by some of the best legal minds in the United States. Full Tilt Poker is, and has always been committed to preserving the integrity of the game and abiding by the law.

"I am surprised and disappointed by the government's decision to bring these charges. I look forward to Mr. Burtnick's and my exoneration," said Mr. Bitar.

Unfortunately, as a result of this action, Full Tilt Poker has decided that it must suspend "real money" play in the United States until this case is resolved. However, Full Tilt Poker will continue to provide peer-to-peer online poker services outside of the United States.

Has anyone heard anything out of any mainstream pros yet?
Tom Dwan has mentioned it. I know that Daniel Negreanu went to play at the Aria from his tweets. I replied to that one asking if it was because he couldn't play at PS but he hasn't sent any more tweets.

I am in a cash game right now....does this mean none of it will count?
Or do not register for future donkaments.......that is really not a problem for me, lol

Also, I have not done it but have read that some ppl to get around deposit issues have changed the country in their profile, I am assuming this is probably too big for that to be a fix?

How could it not count?

The only way we're going to lose our bankrolls is if PS and FT both go bankrupt, and I don't believe the US market is that large of a % of the market. Anyone have any real stats of what percentage of the online market was American? I guess % of deposits is the real question.

As for the non US thinking this doesn't affect them, well if you played on PS and FT it most definitely affects you. PS and FT were the biggest sites because of the US market, had the most traffic, biggest guarantees, etc. Well guess what, thats all going to change.

Hopefully this leads to a regulated US online poker industry nationwide. I can see no reason what so ever to play online poker against only people from my state.

In light of recent events involving the freezing of certain accounts, Full Tilt Poker would like to assure all players that their funds remain safe and secure. Processing of both deposit and withdrawal requests is proceeding as normal and is still available to all of our players.

All players who were affected by the current situation have had their funds returned to their accounts and all new withdrawal requests are processing normally. We assure all players on Full Tilt Poker that your online playing experience will not change and that you will be able to both deposit and withdraw funds as needed. Your money remains safe, secure and accessible
