That kind of depends on which tournaments you choose, your general ability and most importantly whether or not the poker gods are on your side.

Seriously, online poker is like most competitive skills. You learn it, you practise it, you choose your moments, and hopefully all your hard work pays off.

How many people win gold at the Olympics? How many fantastic athletes don't even place? All you can do is give it your best.

Which is exactly why it's unrealistic to think it's something the average person can devote their time to and make a living doing. On the contrary the average person will be contributing to the pockets of the site operators and that's it.

True! But imagine if Elon Musk had decided to go work in his hometown factory rather than following his dreams. The astronauts wouldn't have SpaceX to rescue them when Boeing fell flat.

Business, politics, sports, acting and poker - it's anybody's guess who will be the lucky few among all the high performers.

Poker maybe fell into this category 20 years ago, not so much today when the environment is a lot more competitive and almost anyone can chase that dream of making it big playing cards full time, at any stakes. Elon Musk also had family wealth to fall back onto in the event that he went bust.

You may be missing my point. The "lucky" few will always break through.

online poker is alive :)
I earn, not much, but I have $50-100 a month.
For me personally, the best site is the one with the most freerolls, and at the moment it's definitely 888 :)

It's only unrealistic for the avg person because the avg person isn't willing to put in the hard work and the avg person can't even make a monthly budget and stick to it. And any person who can't make a monthly budget and stick to it can't and never will be able to manage a poker bankroll and not go bust.

Playing poker for a living isn't much different then running your own business something else the avg person will always fail at because running your own business is hard work and a 24 hour a day job 7 days a week 365 days a year. The avg person simply refuses to work that hard that's why they're an employee and only work 8 hours day. Which most you can't even depend on to do that and work hard.

Also anyone with 5....IQ points isn't playing and would never take up online poker for a living. The smart player would play mainly live poker to make a living. Live poker at 1/2, 2/3 and 2/5 is still soft as butter and like taking candy from babies. One would also need a working partner, wife or husband in most countries the avg person would wanna live to make this work. A good quality of life is important.

Cheers!!!

Yes, it is possible. My record is $1,700 MT freeroll and the big winnings were mostly from them. I get 20-100 dollars a month playing MTT freerolls 2-3 hours a day. I haven't been playing for a long time now, there are more important things to do. Poker is hard work and not always fair, I play it for entertainment and income)

Yeah, you can definitely make a living playing poker, you just have to be consistent. It's very difficult though.
