Under no circumstances should you use smartphones during an in-person tournament, and the reasons are as varied as possible:
- The use of smartphones in the middle of an in-person tournament can open up opportunities for cheaters.
- If you are in an in-person tournament, be committed to it, let your family and friends know that during this period you will not be you will be able to respond to messages or answer phone calls.
For this reason, the player must turn off his device at this moment.
- The break period exists precisely so that the player can go to the bathroom, eat or even use their smartphone.
- In the middle of an in-person tournament, the player has the option of absenting himself, so if necessary, he can use this moment to do so.
- The smartphone is not part of face-to-face poker, and any advantage the player obtains from it can and should be considered illegal.
These are just some of the many reasons I believe a smartphone should not be used in in the middle of in-person tournaments.
