like with anything else, practice, practice, practice... meaning play as much as you can. the more hands you play, the more you should learn about the game and thus in the future, be able to put the things you have learned into effect in the future.

These days there's just an overload of information available to the aspiring poker player. But the problem with this is, where does one start? How does one progress through the material? How can you make the best use of your time in hopes of getting better at the game?

Barry Carter & @Dara OKearney OKearney have a new book available, for FREE!!! And it is exactly about this very topic!

i use several different methods/resources - discord, i follow news feeds that are poker related, the whats new function on here is also really useful, i tend to follow 2/3 pros who offer free advice without promoting or pressurizing you into buying into their training platform.
Practice as previously mentioned - freerolls as well as tourneys in higher banded field from time to time.
I have recently returned to live play so that really helps my game personally.

What is the best way to continue learning so the pupil can build on the foundation he already has? And why do you think that?
It depends what the student wants to study.

What do they want to play? Tournaments, ring games, sit-and-gos, PKOs, etc.

I would recommend one or two books in that area of interest.

If they don't know what GTO is then I would recommend looking at that.

I think players should always have some aspect of the game they are working on. Otherwise you don't improve.

Certainly the best way to continue to gain as much experience in poker is of course the game, facing situations to face and emerge victorious, so the more you play, the more you learn.

Always be in a mindset that you're willing and eager to learn. I find videos right now are clearly the way most people are getting their information.
Interactive content would really get the information to stick as well, which cc has provided with it's course :)

Any theory must be tested by practice. You gain knowledge, check whether it works in practice and decide whether to use it in the game, then you test the next knowledge. This process is constant because your opponents are doing the same thing.

If a player has mastered the basics, practice a lot in smaller and larger tournaments! There are many ways to further develop your knowledge, educational videos, books, etc...but I think the best way to develop is direct play! You learn the most from your own mistakes, and thus you learn the biggest pitfalls that happened to yourself sooner!

I feel there is anuff free material available avalible in both books, YouTube, Twitch, Forums and multiple training providers for most poker players to reach a good standard.

But once you begin moving up in stakes there is alot more Courses, Coaching and Solver work alongside that to perform at much better level and a much more in depth understanding of the game.

I think the best way is with analysis and study programs. Those are good for a long time.

Put in the time! Play play play then play some more! Remember hands that you play! Then play some more! Talk to winners! Ask questions from champions! Then play play play!

Playing poker is the best way to gain experience and learn, I would say that you can learn the most from defeats, I think that you can learn a lot by watching more experienced players play, especially if these players explain the plays, why they made a bet or a fold, today there are many players who became streamers or youtubers, and from there they teach what they have learned.

In my opinion, the best way is to just start playing poker at small limits, make mistakes and analyze your game, so you will learn much faster and better. You often learn better from your mistakes

The best way of learning is to learn from your play. This is what poker pros went through, they took their time and studied their game, to see where they are good and bad at, and how they can improve on their weaknesses. Thats when you would come with your playing strategy that will work for you and maybe not for anyone else.

practice makes perfect.. but not in poker😂 Learning to know when to fold and when to hold them is one of the key factors . and sometimes the best starting hand doesn’t win. its all in the cards.. know that there are bluffers in the game that will make you doubt your hand and try to steal the pot. everybody has a different strategy sometimes it pays off sometimes it doesn’t.

Most poker courses are constructed logically. They take a pupil from A to B, and in the end the pupil has acquired some amount of skills.

It's like going to driving school. You know enough to be dangerous, but you are a master of none.

If we exclude all those overpriced, monthly charged, membership sites, the problem is that there is no obvious logical next step to take. The pupil is left on his own to survive.

What is the best way to continue learning so the pupil can build on the foundation he already has? And why do you think that?

Thanks to @Nafor for the topic idea!
As a recreational player I don't know if this is the best way but I will describe what I think should happen next (and that should happen all at the same time little by little).
  • implementing acquired knowledge
  • analyzing played online and live hands (which you can remember)
  • implementing (learn) new strategies and upgrading new knowledge step by step and testing it in both online and live play
  • relearning already adopted knowledge
  • adapting play-style that suits you the best (in which you feel is comfortable for that individual but profitable at the same time)
Pupil should implement acquired knowledge by playing live and online games and analyze played hands and various situations. So, here you can analyze every online hand that you have played and preferably analyze live hands that you can remember (highlight situations where you made a mistake and situations where you didn't made a mistake but still haven't won the pot). At the same time he should implement new strategies one by one and test it in both live and online play. Also he should relearn already adopted knowledge and create play-style that suits him but is profitable at the same time.

So, basically if I want to sum up the whole process it should sound something like this: learn, train, implement, analyze, upgrade, relearn, adapt and those steps should be recurring all the time (and not by that same order) until the end of career.

The best way to continue learning is to play as many games as possible, gather the informations and the experiences and build better skills about the game. Also studying about poker is another important factor of continuation of learning.

In my opinion, it will be enough to study the 30-day course on CardsChat with Robbie Straczynski, who is joined by the best poker professionals, the appropriate methods of which we will have to apply at the tables, choosing the best option for ourselves, the more we play, the faster success will come to us.

To keep learning it comes down to effort. If you can watch an extra training video, or review another set of hand histories, or getting coaching, or even coaching others will make you a better player.

There are plenty of videos available on platforms like YouTube where professionals share strategies and hand analysis, which will help you apply those strategies to your own game.
Although it is a more traditional method, reading poker strategy books is still very effective.
You can also analyze your own hands, which helps you identify your mistakes and areas to improve.
Discussing hands and strategies with other players can offer you new perspectives and help you spot mistakes you may not have noticed.
Each of these avenues has its advantages, and it is ideal to combine several to gain comprehensive training.
Good luck on your journey to becoming a better poker player!

After learning the basics (I prefer to learn the basic reading books), I think the best way is to watch tournament videos, if you have some pro you like talking and explaining about the hand is even better.

Nowadays, there are quite a few useful articles and information about poker in general on the Internet, as well as many different training courses that will help beginner players become professionals. The main thing is that a person has a desire to learn and work on himself, and thanks to the Internet, finding material for training is very easy. Everything I know about poker, I learned myself. I watched how different players play live poker, read information on forums, and got acquainted with several training courses. And of course, it is desirable to be a member of a community such as CardsChat, in which there are many successful players who can be contacted for help.
