Very true about the MTT. It is where the variance hits the strongest, and without good bankroll management, it leaves you broke.
But hey, we all have the dream of entering a higher buyin tournament and destroying it.:cool:

Bankroll Card chat

I think freerolls are the way to go when you start out, there are plenty and very time consuming. This is a slow process but if you place you can move on up the chain quicker then you think. Play smart and do not get greedy or you will dump all of it very quickly. I like your way of thinking, all the best in your future endeavors playing poker. Capo1014

This is a great post for new players as well as returning players, I have been away from the game for about a year, although I already have my own plans, I defo think the advice is great, for me I will probably just do freerolls until I am rolled to play lowest stakes MTTS even if that be 10c 20c buy-ins and gradually work my way up. will probably try to work my way up to having 50-100 buy-ins though so I can play multiple games at a time.

I dont like the idea of poker being the only source of income, which the term "bankroll" seems to imply. As if to say, I have $10 dollars and it's going to be invested in a little game of 'mance.' (mathmatical chance)

bankroll managment

I have a tough time managing my bank roll. there are times that I would build up a bank roll from freerolls, and when I play tournaments with premium hands its like the cards are against me, i get bad beats one after the other. its frustrating at times. my goal is to build a bank roll from playing freerolls only if i can manage these tourneys then i think ill be ready for bigger events and thus will deposit. i have deposited to many times in the past and bust. taking it slowly this time

I think luck plays a great role in online poker. Sometimes I look at my had history and all i see is the following hands 8-5 7-8 J-2 6-3 Q-4 2-9 8-10. Then I am like, seriously?? Am I in a bad algorithm?

I build my bankroll with a combination of poker and sports betting. I bet on matches where I definitely win, although the winnings are small, but use it in poker to double, for example in double or nothing games . Great change to built your bankroll. That works fine for me.

I would never deposit my own money onto a poker site anymore. I have far more fun by trying to create a bankroll from nothing by playing freerolls to win a few dollars and then try to run it up from there.

I call it the "Zero To Hero Challenge", and many players have done this in the past. wsop Main Event World Champion Chris Ferguson is famous for doing it, he went from zero to $10,000 on a poker site many years ago and documented the entire run for people to see how it can be done.

I don't play poker for the money, I play for the love of the game. So it's very easy for me to do this. Other people might not have the patience, because you need INFINITE patience to try this method. It could take you years to build a bankroll, or, if you have some early rungood, it can happen almost immediately. On one site, I've run my bankroll up into the high 3 figures, and on another site I can barely remain at 2 figures. LOL The variance with this method is very high, I'm warning ya... but it is so much fun when you succeed, and along they way as a bonus, you get to play a million poker hands and learn the game thru those experiences. I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!

Excellent

Great post. I do hear all the excuses from my group of poker buddies and I’ve used some myself but I enjoyed your conversation and will see if I can be ‘militant’ in my BRM!!!

We all would love to complete your challenge

I think that we have all dreamed of completing your challenge. We get setup on a new site. Win a freeroll. And then the dreaming starts. “I think I’ll just keep rolling this up.” Then we hop into a big MTT with a buyin and 1 rebuy and addon thinking we can just take it easy and bam!!!! We restart “The Zero to Hero Challenge!!”

well, that's totally me. we have experienced the same stuff together however mine did not take two years and I have found out about it in less than 2 months and it's suck. during these two months, I almost make 120 $ buy-ins which were in 8 times, and every time I came up broke and I couldn't handle the BRM it's almost impossible to make a bankroll with a small amount of money. I tried my best and I couldn't do that I was not successful I played in hundreds or even 2 hundred tours and I did not succeed to catch the first-place money. I got frustrated with this strategy and finally quit, I am someone who can win at least 9 out of 10 games in a live poker cash game session.

I have essentially been on my own Bankroll Challenge for the last few months. It didn't start out that way intentionally. I withdrew all my funds from all my accounts so that I could consolidate all my monies together. I played a few freerolls that week and frankly ran insanely good, I final tabled 5 out of 7 tournaments, including two on the same day. I instantly had a new bank roll of around $40. In the couple of months that followed, I doubled that to just over $80 thanks to some more freerolls and some micro tournies. The last month it has stalled a little, but still increasing. I will continue playing with this bank roll as it is almost as much as I had in my accounts before I made the withdrawals and I'd just quite like to see where this goes. It would be awesome to create my own Cinderella story...

Good luck to everyone in their own challenges. I look forward to hearing your stories.

I remember when I first started playing the free-rolls for fun. It was hard work and my very first cash I made was 32 cents, I was so proud I printed off a hard copy so I could show family and friends.
They all laughed at 32 cents but to me it was a start of a long love of poker! 20 years down the line I have played in Pub games and in Casino Tournament's, I have dabbled in cash games, I have 2 trophies I am especially proud of and the only thing I am missing out on is Vegas! maybe one day?
I recently returned to On-line poker because of the Corona Virus and the several lock-downs we have had, and I must admit I have enjoyed the past few months of learning more about the game and winning on-line.
I feel that until they find a vaccine or cure for this terrible pandemic, I am stuck with playing on-line! But hey I love playing so winner winner all the way,
I recently have had free-rolls pay me $12.00 and $15.00 and my best was a $22.00 ticket to the Micro Millions Main Event on the 29th of November So wish me luck for the 29th.
I have had smaller but still profitable payouts and have almost doubled my bankroll since this all started, I think the best thing that has come from all this is now I am comfortable playing higher stakes Sit and goes, and the Odd MTT games, and I don't mind taking the bad beats and suck-outs every now and again, It's all part of the game, even the Pro's get it wrong sometimes, and watching some of the streams on Twitch has taught me a new way of dealing from losses and learning from them.
Try to keep the game fun and remember always----

When the fun Stops, STOP!

100 satoshi to 100,000,000 satoshi (bch)

Last month i found poker site who lets you play poker with bitcoin and bitcoin cash. Site giving each player 100 chips, 1 chips equal 1/100,000,000 bch, unfortunately player traffic is too low but game looks soft. I will be playing on that site regularly. 18.10.2020; The day i created my account; 100 chips

14.12.2020; total 11,229 hands played, 1,017,600 chips won
