I've divided the qualities needed to be a successful poker player into four categories - four pillars, each of which is critical to your development.1. Natural gift – 17%
2. Labor discipline – 25%
3. Professionalism – 40%
4. Life balance and self-confidence – 18%

Depends on your definition of significant. My goal is to upgrade our monitor for the PS5. Around $700. After my withdrawal today, I'll be around the $500 mark. And with a couple more sites close to minimum withdrawal limits, I'll be closing in on $550. Not too shabby for a recreational player.

But if you're talking about winning thousands, you're probably asking the wrong crowd. Most of us a here for the freerolls and just play to have fun. Players with higher bankrolls don't usually play freerolls and they're the ones more likely to win thousands.

Every player I know who is making (or has made) decent money at this game on a consistent basis LOVES the game of poker! Which happens to be the same reason why so many of us also play the game.
And that goes for any sport or any other endeavor which a person pursues as well. :)

I play as a hobby, I know I don't dedicate myself to being a professional so I'm happy with small results.

Wouldn't it be better to move on to something that gives returns for the time and effort that this game takes?
I've been playing poker for years and I haven't won a lot of money, but I just play for fun. For me, poker is primarily a hobby, and only secondarily a source of additional income. I just love this game no matter what :)

I've been playing poker for at least 55 years, I've already won some nice amounts, I travel constantly with the money I earn playing, now in January I'm going to spend 10 days in Caldas Nova, a wonderful city with hot springs, and on top of everything, I play for love, hobby and it does me a lot of good

For me, playing poker is a hobby, and not the main activity in life. The main goal of a hobby is to give a person the opportunity to get pleasure. In poker I can literally always win some money, sometimes more and sometimes less. In order to win a significant amount of money, you need to read a lot of different information, devote at least a couple of years of your life to this activity and, most importantly, work on your mistakes and find the reasons for your failures. And then I am 90% sure that the result will be good. In the remaining 10% of cases, a person is either not given by nature to play poker, or he is simply lazy).

I have been playing poker for 50+ years and I have never won a significant amount of money but
I still play poker because I love it, it is my entertainment and I hopefully will be playing
for a good few years yet. I play cos I enjoy it, it is nice to win but not the be all and end all.

Because it is a beautiful game, even without money being invovled.

You know nothing, Jon Snow!
We play for leisure. We like Poker. There are people who spend hours playing video games, chess, stacking blocks and a multitude of other hobbies. Most of the time they pay to practice these hobbies.
The great thing about Poker is that in addition to the fun, you can get some return for the time spent on it. But with the exception of professionals, the rest are here for leisure.

because I hear sometimes it can't work out for a very long time, not even months, but you may not drive two and three years, and after that you win a large sum once, although you did the same thing you did two and three years ago, playing every day and studying, you will reach your goal, you just need patience

What is a significant amount of money? Millions? Thousands? Make enough to quit your job? Or in my case, over the years, i have contributed towards a new P.C. Smart TV, holidays, a sofa, among other things. Not bad, for a hobby. When i do win over a period of time, i don't reinvest into poker, i withdraw and put towards buying a luxury item, rinse and repeat.

We do because we have a love for the game. No matter how successful someone is.
But being successful makes it more lovely, definitely. And like some mentioned, it can take some time to make the big bink.
Nevertheless, I would enjoy playing also for the jelley beans. :D
