Smoking at the poker table

I agree that smoking is a bad addiction and habit. I quit smoking a long time ago and have never been tempted to smoke a cigarette again. Smoking at the poker table is not acceptable. Be healthy !

I've played alot of home games and the cigarette smoke is nuisance. Burns your eyes and stinks up your clothing. So what I'm saying is no to smoking.

I also quit smoking and smoking greatly affects the quality of the game, it's true. Another big danger is that a player who plays poker and smokes will smoke too much, which is very harmful to health!

I've been on both sides of this issue as a smoker and non-smoker. I am very respectful
when around non-smokers and even, when I smoke, I don't like it being blown on me and such.

I have stopped many times and sadly, I am smoking presently. I say it that way because I
don't really care for much of any of it. It really does stink!!

The layer of the real world I live in, well, I won't go there, I just agree that smoking is
an issue, doesn't fit at the table anymore and I haven't given up on my vision of being
a non-smoker.

I'm all for people enjoying themselves at the poker table and that includes me as well so I do not agree with someone smoking at the table. If you want to have a drink then that's fine because it doesn't affect anyone else also cut down on the vulgar language and insults as well, let's have fun not increase everyone's tension levels.

Not on my table..lol. yes we smoke on the back porch with the table back there but not over it directly because it's got new felt. I smoke but some don't so we smoke in different area or whatever to catter to whoever. We play in the house sometimes but no smoking only the ganjas. Good luck.

I am against, not all players smoke and we must respect this. There should be special places for smoking.

I would prefer that all live poker is non-smoking. But I will defer to the site rules. I can go elsewhere if the site is not non-smoking. I think more casinos are seeing that non-smoking tournaments are drawing more players.

I have been smoking for many years and I completely share your opinion. Cigarettes cause great harm to our health, because in fact it is a poison. And although I still smoke, but I hope that in the near future I will be able to make a decision for myself and get rid of this harmful and stupid habit forever.

one of the things that bother me a lot is tolerating someone else on the table smoking cigarettes and give myself the free will to enjoy second-hand smoking right along with him/her throughout the entire gameplay. it bothers me a lot, not only during the game even after the game it makes all my nasals and mouth and my lungs dry. some players don't understand the number of cigarettes is consuming during the game just because they feel like losing the game.

first of all, for those players I should say that cigarette makes your brain weaker and doesn't let your brain to make a proper decision it makes your heart pump fast and your blood pressure high and your lungs dry so it lessens your brain function and in lung run those players may experience loses
do not smoke not only on the poker table but everywhere, take good care of your health

You are right my friend, knowing that I smoke too, your description of smokers is correct. The more I smoke, he becomes alert for about 20 minutes, after which I become distracted and unfocused, and I start thinking about smoking another cigarette, as well as disturbing others, which also makes me feel uncomfortable. But the hardest thing is to quit smoking, I haven't tried even once in 17 years and I don't think it will be easy for me or anyone else.

I have never smoked cigarettes and only a few dozen cigars in my youth.
I have played in live poker rooms in New York, Arizona, Nevada, California, West Virginia, and Ontario (canada). Not one of the rooms allowed smoking. In some casinos players get only a 5 minute break for a smoke or call of nature.
Casinos in Ontario, Canada don't even allow smoking inside - period. The air is fresh and clean, unless you are unlucky and sit beside a smoker who has just returned from the outdoor smoking pit.
I also play in a home game, where the only smoker is the home owner. He always goes outside to smoke.

smoking is the nastiest habit there is. Beside that it is expensive about 40 dollars a carton. Why not light a match and burn 2-20dollar bills up same thing only it would be a lot healthier

I think it’s best in those situations to ask a teammate not to smoke at the table. I am a smoker but when someone asks me not to smoke, I accept the request. You can take a short break, and the problem is solved.

Cigarettes are horrible, the smell is bad, the smoke is bothersome. I've smoked a lot of cigarettes and nowadays I only have a slight addiction when I drink a beer. But I'm aware and when I smoke (which is something rare nowadays), I do it outdoors and away from others. But I don't like it myself, the smell is horrible and sticks. Smoking at a poker table or anywhere that is shared with other people is something unpleasant. So, if someone wants to smoke and end their own health, do it, but be distant from those who don't like this crap.

I won't play if table allows smoking. Casinos have pretty much banned it from poker tables and it has made it healthier. Anyone remember when they allowed smoking on airplanes? Awful..

Seems to me ran into it a lot in the early mid 2000s. I usually adjusted back then as need be but I love walking into smokeless poker rooms today!

Worst was being in a small poker room a handful of people are smoking at the table and the guy next to me, just sat there and puffed and blew out smoke in front of himself. Creating a thick cloud, and cigarette after cigarette. A belligerent drunk so I left it alone, but I was happy to leave the table and move to a cash game.

Yes, I agree with you that cigarettes have a negative effect on the game of poker. More correct decisions in poker are made when you do not smoke, but I still cannot quit this habit, the maximum time for which I have not smoked was no more than three months.
