Poker has not changed a thing.
Understanding debt, investing, and learning how the world works have been the real teachers.

Not the money itself but showed me there are unusual ways of making it.

It hasn't changed my perspective at all, I don't play as often as I would like these days but there has been times when I would put $50 onto a poker room and play the first $44 game available with varying degrees of success using a 'one time shot' mentality, I see any money won as a bonus and have withdrawn several times, the biggest amount helped immensly in taking my wife to New York for her 50th birthday.

On the flip side there have been times when I'vs spun that $50 up to $400-500 and found myself entering a game for $50-$100 and within 30 minutes being bored and regretting joining.

I guess it's probably just as well I haven't deposited in a while lol but I'm starting to get that itch again.

Poker hasn't changed my approach to money at all, I'm still a cheapskate and always will be.

I could possibly shoot for life-changing money if I wasn't too lazy to spend the time really learning the game.

I personally have never sports bet really or been a casino slots person etc...I used to have a ton of rules i followed didnt really deposit till like 2016 or 2018 ever....Was all winnings starting with freerolls I used for years to play poker.. Therefore I never considered poker gambling had rules was a skill set if followed rules was profitable...Have i thrown away money? Yes just like going to bar money could burn didnt care about....If went to vegas few times spent few hundred if played live poker usually played with like 300 left if lost etc...I am not a good person for this really cause I was very lucky to win a lot early in 2000's and use that money to fund poker from that point on....Now do I live life knowing im not taking it with me sure....I def live that life lol...edit a side note early 2000s i would go on boats outside of tampa with the 50-300 and i won every time... a bad boat trip id win 250....I really did win every time i played...most people were on vacation they liked the action called you down etc...easy winnings....back in day was 100 sites freerolls every half hour basically i never played bigger then probably 10 dollars till 2006 on full tilt did some 50 dollar buy ins....now i dont want to play under like 6.60 buy ins...but i still do micro and do well....ive still refused to deposit but did to get into the 10k freeroll on wsop mi and that paid off but im taking my time...see what i see...problem was for a long time i like acr and games they have fields but hate the software so slowly gonna check out wsop mi pokerstars mi and party or betmgm mi but havent committed nothing really yet....not a gambler I guess just a poker lover..will add ive won more money then ill ever have again in poker over the years...im disabled money is not tight but saving working on credit figuring out future plan how to live where to live etc....im 55 now and still have a very weak heart so nothing is guaranteed but as said i wont take it with me...but ya trying to save get a house at some point :) which is hard on disability but not impossible

Poker can profoundly shift your perspective on money. It teaches you to evaluate its value keenly, whether in terms of bets, buy-ins, or winnings. Risk management becomes crucial, forcing you to weigh potential gains and losses. Emotional detachment from money often develops, crucial for making rational decisions. Long-term planning becomes a priority, focusing on sustainable bankroll management and strategic play. Handling the game's financial swings builds resilience, fostering composure during ups and downs. Ultimately, poker molds a pragmatic approach to money, blending financial savvy with emotional intelligence and strategic foresight.

I think this is a very good question. Probably one of the best on poker forums. As for me, I used to think that if you worked honestly today and did everything right, you would definitely get your payment. Now I know that this is not true. You can work for several hours, do everything right, but lose money. This is poker. And he doesn't owe you anything.:)

I don't think poker has a good influence in my perspective on money, because you can win (and also lose) a significant amount of money so fast (specially here where I live where $1 worth 5x our currency) and I never would spend this amount of money in the "real world".

The way poker has changed my perspective on money: To keep your gambling money and your living money separated.
And considering that 10% of your earnings per year can go to Entertainment, that is the amount I can use on poker, movies, dining out, etc...
Because I am living on a fixed retirement income, it's easy to calculate.

Playing poker can give you a different perspective on money. It can free up your mind. Undoubtedly higher stakes players would have a much looser attitude to having and spending money.

Hi :)
No, my attitude to money hasn't changed at all. I'm a pretty frugal player and spend money on the game only within my limits, according to my bankroll management. In my personal life, I also always have a financial spending plan that I always stick to, and before spending money on something, I will think about it 10 times. I am generally a very disciplined person in a financial context and will never buy things that I cannot afford.

It's hard to say if poker has affected my attitude towards money, as I've always loved money. :D Perhaps poker teaches you to be more disciplined about spending money.

It is unlikely that poker could somehow change my attitude towards money, since I was already serious about my finances!!! Rather, my attitude towards money helped me when playing poker!!!

Poker is a vaccine against all sorts of life's troubles, said the regular, who was "taught freedom" by the cards. After coming into poker, my life definitely started to take a turn for the better. There are different ways to earn money, and they don't have to be boring and hard. In general, poker gave me freedom, and it became one of the main values in my life. And I think that with the right motivation, everyone can take as much freedom from poker as they need, and that's cool.

Not at all! I always have great "relationship" with money - poker doesn't effect it, in any kind of bad way...😉

Hi :)
I started playing poker solely for fun, and I was even ready to spend $5-10 a month on it. But it turned out that there was simply no need to invest money. You can always build a bankroll by playing freerolls. I'm not a professional player, and I haven't won significant amounts of money, which is probably why poker hasn't actually changed my attitude towards money. Perhaps if I won, for example, 10-20 thousand dollars, my attitude towards the game and money could change, but so far there are no such changes :)

It's a good question in the sense that poker is not just a game but also an opportunity which allowed me to correct my money management in my private life and to continue to control my expenses despite some spew from time to time.

Would you change any of your decision making while playing poker? For example, possibly change the stakes that you normally play?
