You need a big volume of MTTs, SNGs or cash game played to learn how to combine this 2

The harder you practice, the luckier you get.

To losers like me, poker is a game of luck. However, when I win, it turns into a game of skill.

I need your opinion on this one guys. What do you guys think,is Poker a game that depend entirely on lucks or skill? And what are the percentages that we are looking at?

A little bit of both. I have been in hands where I have nothing and bluff guys that have 3 of a kind. It's all about what's on the board and what the other guy(s) think you're going for.

For example one hand I completely bluffed and ended up chip leader in a sitngo with. I had 6h/3s. I was on big blind. I got raised 2 times the bb, blinds were big at this point and I knew they were trying to steal so I raised 2 times again. all folded except that one guy. On the board flops Ah Js 9h, he bets half pot, I wait a bit knowing I'm going to pretend like I got a flush if another heart comes up, I call casually, and turn is a 4d, he bets half pot again, I wait till half my timer is gone and call, bam heart on river, he checks I quickly fire a pot sized bet he waits a bit then folds and shows 3 of a kind 9. He thought I hit a flush because that's how I played the hand to make it look like that's what I was going for. When all I had was a 6 high. I won that sitngo because it put me so far ahead in chips I just bullied everyone after that and stole blinds.

However!!! you will never win a tournament without a little bit of luck mixed in, it is impossible. You still need to catch some good hands here and there and get lucky on all in scenarios.

Luck is a big part of the game of poker. Without luck, fish would not have a chance of winning. Luck should not determine, the win rate of good poker player. If you are chasing luck, you are either in a tournament, or a bad poker player.

I think a good poker player trying to grow their skills, taking into consideration their weaknesses, strengthen the weak point of the game.
Because luck is over there, but sometimes not. Good night.

Poker in the short term is 60% luck,35% skill and 5% balls/balanced image. In the long run poker is 55%skill,35% luck and 10% balls/balanced image. Hope this is helpful thx🍀

I agree with you.In short distances especially in MTT luck comes first and then the ability to.If you take a long distance such as the S&G tournaments, then there is greater ability to solve. But in any case, these two factors are closely linked with each other.

If I play 50 hands against Doug Polk or Phil Galfond heads up, I might stand a chance based on two factors: 1- lack of information, which benefits me the most since he's the guy that is supposed to benefit the most on information. The more information the superior player hás on you, the wider the skill Gap. 2- luck matters most on low sample size.

500 thousands of hands? Luck means nothing. The player on his best form will win. There's no doubt.

Lucky and poker are connected. However, on my view, poker is also related with our skills and our behaviour. Patiente is extremely needed, being able to reed our opponent is very important, etc. If poker was a really lucky game we wouldn´t see the some players achieving so many final tables like thei do...just look at Timex o achieve 7 consecutive final tables on ept high roller...

Recipe for Poker

Poker is one third skill, one third luck and one third bravado.

You will not win consistently without a good portion of each.

1 day in poker is 99% luck and 1% skill
1 year in poker is 1% luck and 99% skill

I think it's a combination of both. pokerstars system was very surprised, I lost many hands on All-in with higher than my opponents cards.

The system has preferences with those big stack.

For me it is 50% of everything.

Most will disagree with me, I think 70-80% skill , 20-30% luck. Playing long enough skill should be higher, but in any one game I think luck does play a significant part.

it would probably depend on your style and ability, if you are playing any 2 cards and going all in frequently you will need to have a lot of luck, whereas if you played a bit smarter the need for luck would be alot less

I would say +-60% skill and +-40% luck. Meaning to say, its still a skill game for me.
