Hi! Old Red Chipper here. Will you be doing more collabs with RCP? I absolutely loved your MTT course over there.

Best regards from Denmark.
I would like to. I really enjoy making training content. Maybe you should let them know that you want more content from me and it would get them rolling on bringing me back for more content.

Hi,

my question:

Are small pairs (55-22) and small suited Aces (A4-A2s) good hands to play at the very early stages of a tournament or is it proper to play conservatively to save chips for the later stages?
If it's cheap and you are in position, they are usually good hands to play. If it is expensive, throw them away. And try to play them against bad players and fold them against pros.

Hi Chris "Fox" Wallace,

i have only one question: which poker games are the best or fastest way to bring your bankroll on a higher level?
Greets Balou
Generally cash games allow for the most income, but it depends on what you are good at. Play wherever you are a winner.

Hi Chris, what tip would you give me to ease the pain of a tilt in a poker session?
Playing smaller helps. If losses tilt you, your risk tolerance isn't high enough for the games you are playing. Wait until your bankroll is bigger before playing the next step up. It can also help to remember that players playing bad and getting lucky is why we can still play against bad players. If the best player, or the best hand, always won, the bad players would be gone and we could not win any money.

Would you make that call
I can fold a nut flush sometimes, but in this situation I don't know if it's possible. It's definitely a tough spot. I might fold against a player I knew was tight and careful.

Hello Chris, glad to have you here :D,

Which is easier in your opinion, the transition from cash to tournaments or vice-versa ? Thank you,
Cash to tournaments is easier. Tournament players get crushed in cash games at first. Tournament players just need to learn how to handle smaller stacks and they are in good shape.

Hi Chris,

What is the poker format that you play the most? And which one is your favorite ( most enjoyable ) to play?
I end up playing no-limit holdem most often because there are so many options available, but I would prefer to play stud/8 or super razzdugi. The split pot stud games are really interesting and keep me thinking.

Hi Chris, Can you tell us what article, book we can read to play tournaments? Thanks for your advice.
Check out my article series here on CardsChat, buy my book Short Stack Ninja, and check out my course on Red Chip Poker. All will be a big help in getting started with your tournament education.

Good afternoon! Chris, I'm interested to know your opinion on the game in the satellites. Do you recommend that your students use them? Or do you think it's better to enter the tournament directly and not waste time on the satellite?
I think satellites can be great, but they have to have a reasonable rake, which is rare, and they have to be a satellite to a tournament you are already going to play even if you don't win your way in. Think about a $12 satellite into a $100 tournament where 1 in 10 people gets paid. If 1 in 10 people also make the money in the tournament, then that would be a 1% chance of cashing. You would need a much bigger bankroll to play a $10 satellite, than a $10 tournament, because the variance is much higher when you have to win twice. Even if you are a great player and will cash 20% of the time in each, you still only cash 4% of the time if you have to do it twice.

Hello how are you ? I could ask you a question, how do I get rid of the urge to want to play all the hands before the bubble? I do it because otherwise I feel like I could lose a great opportunity.
I would just recommend working on your game and getting better at attacking the bubble. You should be attacking the bubble with a big stack and a good table, and once you know more about it, the bad decisions will be more obvious. Like so many things in poker, it gets easier if you study harder.

Hello Chris!! Do you currently play poker for many hours or since you are a professional have you adapted your schedules according to your life standards?
I try to have a life as well, and I don't play as much as I used to. Life outside of poker is very important. Why play poker if you can't spend the money on nice things and spend time with your loved ones?

An equity calculator is a good place to start. And some good books. Dive in and start learning everything you can and it won't be long before you are able to tell which learning tools are working for you. I like Equilab for equity calculations and it's free.
Thanks for your reply.☺
But could you recommend some specific books for beginners playing MMT? And is it possible to find something from what you recommend in electronic form to be able to translate the text into a language available to me?
Or perhaps you could recommend some really good material posted on YouTube (so that I could watch it with the help of a translator)?

What advice do you have for players who are transitioning from online poker to live tournaments for the first time?
Patience. The fields will be softer than you are used to, but the hands will feel like they are coming out SOOOOO slow. Bring earbuds, you may think you won't need them, but when you first play live and see how slow it is you may change your mind. And learn to watch for live tells. Watch people's eyes when the flop falls. Really valuable once you get good at it.

I don't know what material is good on youtube. My book Short Stack Ninja is very good for tournament players, and it is available in Spanish if you search Amazon for "Ninja Del Short Stack". Raiser's Edge and Kill Everyone are both not bad for getting started with tournaments. There just aren't many books on modern tournament poker because people aren't buying poker books much anymore so most people stopped writing them.

-Question:

Is it correct to play GTO preflop ranges below 25NL cash games?
It's fine, but you should probably be focused more on exploitive play which might mean more suited aces and small pairs than a solver recommends.

do you ever take part in those big prop bets i read about involving some of the Las Vegas poker pros ?
I stick with much smaller prop bets, though I have definitely made some money with prop bets over the years. I did play a game of sceond-level Lodden on an ESPN broadcast once where we were betting on what Antonio Esfandiari would think that the Lodden would think. It was fun.

How much was the most you earned in one championship? and how much was your biggest loss?
My biggest win was just over $500,000. I think my biggest losing day would either be busting the $50k PPC or losing $22,000 in a day playing cash.

Hello Chris, a pleasure to ask you, what do you do after playing a tournament?

What other hobbies do you have apart from poker?

View attachment 333696
My wife and I love hiking, collecting rocks, and wildlife photography. Anything to be outdoors really. I also collect guitars and play music quite a lot. My second job is writing and I love writing fiction, especially cyber punk sci-fi.

Hi Chris, I see a lot of recreational players putting together staking packages and many of them charge markup. What do you think about the prospect of staking non-professional players who charge markup? For some reason, it kind of bugs me and I don't usually invest if markup is being charged.
I don't mind if they do it, it's up to investors to make smart decisions, but I wouldn't buy a piece of a recreational player unless I really thought they were a great player and playing in soft fields. I think you are definitely right not to buy from rec players who are charging a markup most of the time.

Hi Chris!
HORSE is one of my favorite types of games.
How did it feel to win the 2014 WSOP $10,000 HORSE championship?
This is the pinnacle of HORSE for me!
It was the greatest feeling I've ever had. I couldn't get the smile off my face for hours. It was the bracelet I always wanted to win and there were so many people there to share it with me. Elation, pure elation. I'll be chasing that feeling for the rest of my life.
