I put $20 into Absolute poker and lost it all. Joined Doyle's Room, before it became Americas Card Room, had much better luck. Was up Fifty dollars. Took a hiatus from poker. Then lost my BR @ Americas cardroom. Net, I'm down $70, am trying to build BR through freerolls and promos.
Loved DoylesRoom. They switched to a few different networks back before ACR (Yatahay). I like Doyles best when they were on the microgaming network.... and I forgot all about the profits I made in my beginning days of
online poker while playing on that site (& over 20 others).
There were so many good promotions pre 2010 that if a person studied a bit it was pretty easy to be a profiting player (and if you were a Promo hunter).
These days it is much more difficult to profit from online poker. I personally play cash tables but still play at micro/low stakes (25nl, 10nl at times if I'm tired). I'm able to slowly grind up a profit but it's not enough to pay for the groceries. I believe to make money today in online poker you really need to be playing MTTs and you need to be able to put in a lot of volume (along with a lot of studying). This is my current goal but life has had other plans as my physical health is terrible these days & this is while care-taking my partner full-time as well (she's in much worse health than myself). ie. today I had plans for MTT play but then it quickly became a choice of getting taken to the Emerg. at the Hospital or laying down in hopes that the feelings would pass. Did manage to get a few
hands in on the cash tables in the afternoon but I'm not playing my A-game by any means... just not able to focus & concentrate.
TLDR - I make a tiny amount online. fwiw, I don't play Slots of any other casino games. Just poker.
It is possible to earn a profit today - but it takes more work than in the past.
