Agg numbers? Might lean towards a fold pre against a decent reg at your stakes with this kind of hand.

Agg numbers would help. If he's aggressive I might lean towards raising the flop instead of calling and hoping to hit. As played turn is a call, river is a fold but it's not a huge leak to call there either. But agg numbers would help.

You have to call the flop, but you should be folding the turn if you face more shells.

Optimal amount is zero. You're hoping he has Ax and can spike a 3. But most importantly, if you can't get value on the river after calling here, you likely weren't going to get a call from a raise on the turn any ways. At least not on this texture.

Why did you decide the check the turn?

And yes a K would value bet.

I have been seeing an increase in donk betting recently by aggressive players both good and bad.
Any ideas as to why this might be?
I'm finding it difficult to identify both the motivations for it and the ranges associated with it and thus how to deal with it.
Anyone got any input on This?

The V was an aggro one as I remember. His fold to c bet was pretty low. So I thought of bluff catching turn. He had a straight.
I sometimes take that line vs Vs with high AF & floats the flop.
Cbet as usual & then check to let the v steal & check raise or call it down.

Maybe on a drier board you can check turn vs and aggressive opponent, but I wouldn't here. He caught some piece for sure, and he's not folding on that turn. Just continue to bet.

Interesting topic. But I play on NL 2. NL 200 is too high a limit for me.

Thoughts?? The flop raise is about getting info I guess to see where I'm at.
But I've heard that "levelling" isn't a good strategy as per Doug Polk's articles. Is that what I was doing here??

Id Just call the flop here nearly always, you have no idea if you are ahead.
If you want more info you'd be better off 3betting pre against his wide range.
Shove looks ok with top 2 pair on that board. Tough for him to lay down QQ KK AA here having put 38bb in the river. Going to lose to sets occasionally but I'd expect them to keep raising on the flop.

V is a tight reg. Haven't seen him run pretty deep and I don't remember him being aggressive.

Should I reraise this on flop? And is there a point in calling the flop raise knowing I'm gonna fold on turn on a decent bet? And is it a call on turn??

Yup I usually call on flop. This time I wanted to become fancy & know where I'm at straight on flop instead of becoming a calling station on tunr & river.

In this spot, c/f is fine. You're only going to have about 25% equity vs/ this kind of opponent w/ your only fold equity coming from a split. So shoving ~85 into a 53 won't be profitable.

I have been seeing an increase in donk betting recently by aggressive players both good and bad.
Any ideas as to why this might be?

I have seen tourney players to donk much more than cash player. Maybe it's coming from there?

Thoughts?? The flop raise is about getting info I guess to see where I'm at.
Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Js Ts
fold, fold, CO raises to 3 BB, Hero calls 3 BB, SB calls 2.6 BB, fold

Flop : (10 BB, 3 players) 2d 5s Th

Id Just call the flop here nearly always, you have no idea if you are ahead.
Would it be better flop raise if hero would have :9s4: :8s4:, Flop :2d4: :5s4: :8h4: with the idea that calling CB is probably wrong?

guess so. But we do that to stop the action then & there to take in down I guess. Cause any overcard would be bad for us to continue. But at the same time we are vulnerable to bluff re-raises & value raises
