2-5+10Rock PLO, or 2-5/5-10 NLHE. Ive played bigger before, but these are main games I play.

Does the plo game run often? I’m looking for new games if I start traveling more. Games are kinda dead over hear at the moment. Mainly just depends. 5/10s but nothing bigger.

2-5-10 PLO at Aria runs daily.

Can always find multiple 1-2 plo games at places, and usually a 2-5++ at Wynn/Venetian/Aria.

Hi Protential,

Thanks for sharing knowledge and advice with us all! I was hoping you might be able to offer me some advice regarding my bankroll management issues. I have gotten very good at cash games and I can win like krayzie at them. I can start with 30$ and work my way up to 500$ in 8 - 10 hours. When I do this I will play with all my money split onto two tables or sometimes even all of it on one table for a while. I got all the way up to 2800$ and then of course I lost it all on a couple of bad hands on the 1000$ buyin games. Do you know if maybe there is an exercise or some specific thoughts I could use to help me. I seem to thrive when its all on the table and I really can sustain it for a very long time that way, but we all know that if you take that risk for long enough you are going to go bust sooner or later. I obviously just need to exercise some self discipline and play where I have 20 - 50 buy ins. I was just hoping maybe you might have some insight that would help me out some.

Anytime you use bad bankroll management you are no long truly "playing poker" you are just gambling and will go broke.

You need to decide if you want to play poker or gamble.

Outstanding words of wisdom! I have never thought of it in that way until now. Thank you Protential. I believe I am going to overcome this weakness going forward.

Ask me anything Cash Game related that doesnt involve a specific hand!

Topics like: Theory questions, studying questions, mindset, game selection, bankroll management, staking industry, sites to play on, software and tools, where to play live, live adjustments, etc.

If you'd like my input on a handhistory please post it in the designated area of the site and I'll happily give my input!
What is the best way to start a tournament?
sometimes I leave aggressively and sometimes fold until I see a card with potential

Mentality/Avoiding Tilt without Distractions

I read in the Top 10 tips for winning that doing things like watching a stream or surfing the web while playing a single table is generally a bad idea since you can miss some key information that you may have only gotten by watching and you might not be taking the game seriously enough. While I can see how this may happen, in my experience so far, I've found that if i DON'T do something else while I'm single tabling at the micros, then I get far too antsy and start making bad decisions and tilting more and get more impatient. What do you think about this and what do you think the best solution is? (I'm still a losing poker play btw) down about 15 buy-ins at 2nl after about 14k hands.

When working on your gane play the lowest amount of tables that allows you to focused grind. And use that time to work on new concepts you have been learning from training sites/videos.

Id start by learning from RunItOnce learning paths and UpswingPoker

How do you like your fish? Blackened, butter and garlic, or something else?
How about steak temperature, what would your preference be?:D

When you know you are going to play a long session, what type of foods do you like to eat before hand to prepare yourself? Or do you even like to eat a meal before a session, or maybe you snack along they way instead? Do you try and stay hydrated with water? Does Red Bull give you wings?

Do you exercise before a session or take breaks to stretch your legs or anything like that?

Thanks!

Hi Protential, I would like to ask you if you think it was profitable in your career to invest in a poker school like the ones you mentioned in previous comments.
Could you achieve through them a superior theoretical development of the game that you would not have achieved otherwise with free material?
And finally, since you're a tournament player, you think it's worth investing in software like Tournament indicator or Tournament Shark?
Thanks for your time

Bet sizing vs. draws

Hi Protential,

I generally play live cash games 1/2, 2/4 stakes, because those are the only stakes allowed in my state.

My question is in regards to denying pot odds to players who like to continue with flush or straight draws when stacks are deep. Would you tend to bet more if you are confident they will continue? or is something like 2/3 pot enough knowing you are more than denying them correct odds and you can get away from it if they hit? Both flop and turn?

I tend to bet between 2/3 and 3/4 pot on the flop and on the turn. Should I just be betting the highest amount I think they will call on both streets to increase my ev if I am confident in my read?

When you have the best hand you should always try to bet as large as you know they will call.

If they will call a 2x pot bet on a draw, bet 2x pot!

Most rooms are somewhat close to smoking/etc.

The most closed off rooms are the venetian and wynn.

Long-term thinking

In the game of money, it is always best to double risking (allin) or growing gradually ensuring a robust tournament?

It is a profitable strategy to play? Or should follow a single style of play?

Cash games micro stakes

Hi Mr Protential,I’m new to this forum and my question firstly is the bankroll management,I’ve read the replies but I just want to ask one question,I started with $90 and now it is $189,most of this I won by playing the bigger stake cash game 0.10/0.25,and other than that I was playing 0.1/0.2,I’ve gained profit in that one too but not much as compared to the other one.so what you think I should do to stop playing 0.25 one because I only play the bigger stake when I get a bad beat or I loose like 2 or 3 games in a row of micro stakes.

With $189 you should be playing at most .02-.05.

Playing any higher than that is a recipe for you to go broke!

Hey Ryan,

I have an interesting hand that I'd like your take on.

10NL on Zoom. No info on the BTN.

I find QQ in the CO and raise 2.7BB. BTN pops it up to 8.5BB. I flat (Understand looking back this was the wrong call but for the way this hand played out...ignore that miss).

Flop A54 rainbow

V bets 7.5BB - I call.

Turn Ah

Both check.

River 8c

I check -he bets pot.

Is this more of a line that Ax takes to induce the bluff on the river - or - is this a KK, JJ or even TT type of hand that is scared of the AA?
