Is it worth playing freeroll tournaments that give tickets to other tournaments?

It depends, if you have a small bankroll, then it can be worth it, even if you need a lot of luck in these tournaments.

Yes, they are very cost-effective. If you have money to use add-ons, I recommend playing pokerstars add-ons. If you don't have the money to use them, I recommend playing with 888Poker and 1Xbet.

Only you can say if it is worth your while?

Personally I don't bother with games that put you in the never ending track (phase 1 leads to phase 2, etc,) and somewhere (much later) along the line comes the actual money game.
To me these look like a simple marketing trick. They make it look like there is a lot of offering to keep people busy.

It depends on prizes in such tournaments. I don't recommend to play several satellites before the main tournament.

How much is your time worth?

If you have the time and think it's more fun than other hobbies - why not.

From a pure "I want to learn to maximize my hourly profit from poker" perspective: NO!

Yes. It's worth it. But you have to keep in mind that these will be two completely different tournaments. While the freeroll will be a crazy shootout, the paid tournament that you'll use the ticket to play in will be very different. Another thing: there are freerolls that give you access to a tournament that will start right after. I don't think this is a very good option because you'll be playing two, three or even four tournaments in a row and that gets tiring. Focus on the option that gives you a ticket that's valid for a few days.

20+ winning micro/low stakes cash player who never cared to move up as poker is just a fun hobby to kill time and make some side money. I do play higher stake MTT's thou where I'm also profitable.

When I see this question to me the question should be what is the easier and fastest way to $500 and a bankroll for 10nl? Why 10nl. Cause that is where the micro/low stakes players start to get decent, 2nl and 5nl are pretty easily beat with a simple TAG strategy while one studies to improve their game and one risks losing very little. Besides if one can't afford to lose $50 and it hurts that bad one should uninstall every poker site they have installed and never download one again and just get on with life. Poker isn't for everyone that can't afford to lose $50.

In my 20+ years experience the easiest and fastest way to a $500 bankroll for 10nl is....................depositing $50. Start at 2nl full ring. One could freeroll bingo for 20 years and never win or reach $500. I'm a 20 year winning player who over that time has played his share of freerolls for shits n giggles. I'm a losing freeroll player but 20+ profitable poker player.

While I've gone from $50 and 2nl to 50nl and $5k a number of times over 20+ years. Freerolls=wasted time.

Cheers!!!

Look at some of the lost souls here on the forum who grind them already for years and then ask again if it's worth it.

Some are cost-effective, others are not.
I recommend playing only those that take you directly to the tournament you want or to the final satellite. It's very difficult to enter a satellite that leads to another, that leads to another, and so on.

Freerolls are a waste of time and most certainly won’t make you a better player. Not a popular statement perhaps. But true.

Of course, it is recommended to gain experience first, and then have some experience before playing a higher level of activity.

99% of the time, freerolls get you nowhere...but in that longshot case, where you win 3 or 4 freerolls for tickets to higher stakes money tournaments, it can be worth it. I had to win, I think, 6 or 7 levels for a ticket to a $250,000 cash tournament on the unibet site. I did not cash, but it was very exciting playing for that amount of money, and playing against some of the most famous pros you see often on TV.

Which pros? At Unibet you can have 5 aliases. How could you know who the pros were? Or did you qualify for a live tour? Where did this live tour take place? Which TV pros would play a just 250K tour?

Freerolls = tempo perdido.

Saúde

There were a few pros, mainly from ireland and England, who used their real names. One or two of the Cardschat pros were entered. In the forum where you can "Ask the Pros" thread, I asked Dara O’Kearney for some advice. He may have mentioned that he was playing in it as well...fuzzy memory (and I'm 71)...it was in 2020. The point I was trying to make is that going through several levels of freerolls to win tickets to high stakes games can be more rewarding than simply cashing.

I really like these satellite freerolls and always take part in them whenever possible. But I play them only on 888, in those that do not have rebuys. Those held at PokerStars with rebuys are a waste of time and money.

It is worth playing in these because they're free and you can earn some money like this playing more freely!
