You want to maximize the value of your hand. With a small pair that usually means you can win a cbet or you can hit a set.

If you open shove your small pair usually only better pairs call you. So you usually win a very small pot or you lose all your chips.

In the first round of a tournament, if I get a pair, should I go all-in to maximize value? This way, I can take the pot away from two or three players and make it easier later on. What do you think? Thank you!
I think you will definitely benefit from our free course :)
Poker is not as easy as it seems at first glance :)

In my humble opinion, this is a frank strategy that will lose a lot in the long term.
My strategy is to play tight at the beginning and more aggressive at the end and exploit weak players.

grow the pot with just one pair and you won't win until the river.

If the tournaments are fast, hyper turbo, then it is quite possible that you will be able to do what you have planned. But if we're talking about tournaments like the Sunday Million, then I think it would be a bad idea :)

going all in with the first hand is only worth it in turbo and hyper turbo tournaments... or in turbo freerolls... the fact that you have a pair does not mean that you will win 100% and knock out 2-3 people, you can easily fly out in the first hand...

There is a very wise word that teaches us, "PATIENCE" when we do not use it, we should suffer the consequences, in my opinion wait for the right moment, acting by instinct may not be a good option

Try to get the most out of your hands, all-in isn't always the best option

Early in a tournament, nope. On the final table of that tournament, yes!

All-in in poker with complete garbage is the most popular technique in movies to show the determination and fearlessness of the main character. It looks impressive, so inexperienced players often repeat it, naturally lose and leave the poker table. There is no clear right decision in such a situation: the opponent can bluff with draw hands that are not in the combination, or he can make up with sets. The correctness of the decision in such a situation depends on your experience.
