I find myself getting tired and bored after a while in tournaments and I always end up doing something stupid and going on tilt sometimes because of it. Anyone got good advice for how not to do what I constantly do.

my tip for you is: if you feel bored with tournaments lasting hours, for example 5 or 7 hours, I suggest you play sit&go or even cash game, it's super normal for you to be better in another modality that you feel more comfortable with. comfortable to play, after all that's what poker is about, having an advantage over your opponents mentally and strategically.

You lose interest and get bored because you are not motivated enough. Your goals are obviously not important to you. Answer yourself the following questions:
What does poker mean to you?
What do you want to achieve by playing poker?
What is your current local goal for the 1st quarter of 2025?
What is your goal for 2025 in general?
What are your long-term goals in poker, for example, for a 5-year period?
If your goal is just to have fun and you are ready to pay for it, then maybe fast and dynamic tournaments like Blast or Spin & Go will suit you?

Play more tables if you are getting bored.

When it comes to getting tired, I agree with Leandro6803 above: Play Cash, SNGs, or faster, smaller MTTs.

Yes I struggle with the same thing. I guess that's just the nature of tournaments. Putting on some nice tunes helps a little for me, but other than that I don't know... Just stick to cash games lol

Play more tables. If you play 3-4 tables at the same time, you simply won't have time to get bored :)
This is an effective remedy for boredom, it will definitely help you.

After playing online backgammon for money for many years I can say with 100 percent certainty that the reason you are bored is the same reason that I am bored when I play poker and why I hate long tournaments. Poker is quite simply a boring game! It is however probably a good thing online backgammon went kinda kaput and there was no longer any money to be made at it. The stress of backgammon over many years might have taken a toll on my health because boring it was not!

First of all you need to allocate time properly for play and rest. Excessive workloads always negatively affect on well-being and correct decisions. Then the results will be of higher quality.

If long tournaments tire you out, you don't have to play them. Alternatively, you can play cash games or fast hyper tournaments. Although fast games are more like bingo than poker, but if you are bored then they will suit you :)

I always play without sleep, without hunger or thirst, and listening to some music

When a person suffers from gaming burnout, they begin to feel tired and lose motivation. It is important to be able to cope with this condition and prevent it from returning. Some gamers say that completing levels does not feel like a rest, but like a job that you have to do.A popular cause of burnout is monotony, which is why interest is lost. You need to take a break from the game for a while.

Maybe just think of tournament poker like a boxing or UFC fight. If we loose concentration we are going to let our guard down and get hit in the face. We can only get hit in the face so much before we get knocked out so pay attention lol

I try to save my energy and not be distracted by other information, I try to put on calm music, sometimes I talk with friends, or I watch new films, it relaxes me and I stay calm, I try to break the routine with the means at hand.

If you play after work, then you should probably give up MTT. The most profitable stage in MTT starts towards the end of the tournament and the concentration there should be greater than in the early stages.

Every tournament is important to me because poker is a source of income for me. That's why I never get bored. Maybe you get bored because your results don't matter to you, but then maybe you need to think about whether you need poker at all or maybe there's something that could be more interesting for you.

I just keep in mind if don't win today then I can't buy turnips tomorrow. Nothing focuses the mind like the sound of growling stomachs

Try to take a break in the game if you are not interested in playing.

it might be a unpopular opinion, but I would rather lose a few hands and take a longer break than playing tired
