Hi

Is there a strategy to consistently win freeroll tournaments, most players seem to play ATC and it seems somewhat of a lottery. Is this how everyone else finds it or am I missing something?

For the most part all you need to do is play ABC poker, and you can also adjust your bet sizing on the fish because they wont notice.

Be patient in the beginning and try to go with good cards against the crazies.
In the middle game, you can play your usual game.
You can limp more, and good cards pay out most of the time.

You shouldn't really be doing a lot of open limping in tourney poker. If players are sitting out it becomes even worse, because you should be fighting for the dead money, not trying to play bad hands out of position, with no initiative. Also when you limp you price in players left to act to over limp, this causes you to get less hands, less of the sitters chips, and win less in the tourney.

Playing draws: There is no general rule for playing draws, but it is generally better to bet or fold rather than make a small bet.
Free Tournaments: Many players in free tournaments play very loosely, which can make it feel like a lottery. You can improve your chances of winning by playing tighter in the early stages, avoiding complex plays and all-or-nothing bets.

In freerolls you have to play with good hands, you don't have to make a lot of bluffs, you have to play strong hands aggressively, because players pay a lot.

I would advice you not to bluff as much because players are very loose in freerolls, they'll call your bluff with button pair lol, which means you should only try and play your strong hands and very aggressively, because you will get called and paid by those loose players

Players will call with any 2 cards since they have no skin in the game.

Early on lots of people go in with non premium hands hoping to double up and not waste 2 hours of play to not make the money.

It is easier to bluff in freerolls as it is nearing the money in a freeroll compared to bluffing in the beginning of a freeroll.

And last thing to moneying in a freeroll, is to play lots of freerolls. You are more likely to money playing 100 freerolls compared to playing 5 to 10 freerolls.

Best of luck at the tables.

Play only good starting hands. Raise big and bet big, more than you would in a normal game. If you have a good hand, bet, bet, bet. Most freeroll participants play frivolously, because there is nothing at stake except time. This factor determines the main differences between freerolls and inexpensive tournaments.Don't rush into all-ins early on.

You're right, most players play the lottery, and that's fine. But the main thing is not to be like others, the main thing is to be patient, not to play with junk, and play freerolls as often as possible. Then, step by step, your bankroll will start growing :)

Freerolls are money from nowhere and they are so tempting. Everyone who wrote about good starting hands is right, 500 players play freeroll, the rest are just like in a casino.

You need the run of cards. You will also need to judiciously fold a few times to protect your chip stack. If you play many freerolls you should win a few eventually. It’s not rocket science 🚀.

What do you mean by consistently? You can't win or even cash-in every tournament, it's not possible.

Oi

Existe uma estratégia para ganhar torneios freeroll consistentemente, a maioria dos jogadores parece jogar ATC e parece uma loteria. É assim que todo mundo acha ou estou esquecendo de algo?
Good afternoon, depending on the tournament structure, you have to attack beginners with good hands.

Seja paciente no começo e tente jogar com boas cartas contra os malucos.
No meio do jogo, você pode jogar seu jogo habitual.
Você pode dar limp mais vezes, e boas cartas pagam na maioria das vezes.
I agree... especially with connected cards or suites. Hands with values always play for large pots.

Você precisa da sequência de cartas. Você também precisará fazer fold criteriosamente algumas vezes para proteger sua pilha de fichas. Se você jogar muitos freerolls, você deve ganhar alguns eventualmente. Não é ciência de foguetes 🚀.
Knowing how to quit at the right time is what separates good players. Don't just get attached to the cards, try to read your opponent.

I don't think there is a correct formula, but I think that at the beginning you should be careful with players who like to bet everything with any card, you should also take into account how quickly the blinds advance, it depends a lot on what type of free it is, yes It is CC you will find very good players and you must know how to read these players and it will not be the same as playing as a free where more than 1k players register and everything is all in after all in

Thanks for this, The majority of tournaments I play have almost the whole table sat out, basically making the action heads up but can be awkward depending on the position of the players still active. How would you adjust in this situation, Would you basically play heads up?

So I cash in about 40% of the freerolls I enter, but that is mostly due to the payout structure, I don't seem to run that deep.

i start the freerolls playing with calm and folding the crazy allins, mid game to the finish is more ABC poker. But sometimes we find a crazy one in the mid-late game . Its difficult.

I just try to watch carefully how my opponents play and notice the inadequate ones.

Strategy is to play basic strategy, look for opportunities early. Early-middle, stay fairly tight. Last third, loosen up, be open to decent connectors and suited hands. Observe and youi will see others loosenikng up as well. If you are a fairly conservative player, go in knowing it's a freeroll, and your opponents have the loose attitude as well.

Strategy? Good cards are lost on ferroloks. However, my strategy at the beginning is to try to triple the number of starting chips and get to the payline.
