I never deposited, I just played freerolls when I started to play poker online, cardschat freerolls are the best freerolls you can find, so use them.
I was fortunate to win $1000 playing a freeroll that cardschat ran on party poker back in 2015, I won the $200 ticket and was thrown straight into the target tournament with 10bb, I thought I would have no chance but kept doubling up. Obviously you're not going to get wins like that often playing freerolls but they can come around now and again.
Just remember freerolls are not just a get rich quick scheme, so have fun with it and when you start to make some money, use a good bankroll management and use a small portion of your winnings to play satellite into a better tournament, you could be turning a good profit in the future, GL

Several times on many different sites, In fact I have only had to give my Bank details to a site when I decide to take my money and run. There has been some sites that stopped playing Poker and concentrated on Sports Betting. Mainly because they make money faster from Gamblers than they do from the rake in poker games.
Or they stop offering Freerolls, which I can understand, as I made quite a bit from them. Freerolls are an Incentive to get players hooked on Poker, and It makes you believe that if your can make money from them, then depositing your own Money will make you even more Money, When the opposite is true in many cases.
Freerolls and Buy-in Tournaments are both very different, and when you add in the fact that everyone is playing with their own money, then the Game gets very serious. In a Freeroll nobody takes it too seriously as it is a bit of Fun, and they lose nothing if they get busted out. But in a Buy-in game you are always aware that you could lose your own money and it can get very serious fast!
I am not tempted to make a deposit, on any site because I can win money from Freerolls, then use that money for buy-ins, I believe that in my opinion PKR.com was one of the hardest to make money from, because their Freerolls were called 10 Cent giveaways, You only had 10 players in every game and only the top two players got a pay-out, You had to be very quick to register in them and they ran one every hour.
Most of the time, most of the players went all-in on the first hand, and of course busted out, however I wanted to play the game and in some cases I would sit out on the first hand just to get 2nd place, The rule was, You could play these games until you amassed $2 Dollars in winnings, Then after that you were on your own. No more Give away games and every game you played after that, had a buy-in, But with their Lowest buy-in was a 10 Cent Ring Table, I built up winnings from that $2 Dollars into a Bankroll of over $150 Dollars before the site went bust and went into Liquidation.
Thanks to pokerstars, they bought the Player Database and honoured everyone's account if they joined their site, and as I was already a registered player I got my money back through PokerStars.
So the answer to this question is YES! You can make money and build a Bankroll for FREE! From Freerolls!
The real question should be Can you make a living from them? and in my World with the prices being so High! I would say "Not a Chance!"

The bad news is that in most cases you won't win much. However, it's worth playing them.Freerolls are a great way to build your bankroll. Some players have already proven that you can climb the limits without investing a single cent.Freerolls are a free opportunity to gain experience. For example, it is very difficult to learn how to play well at the final table, because you simply get there very rarely.

my entire poker career was made by freerolls...first game ever played on acr in 2003 netted me 3k freeroll had to sports bet turn over my winnings ran to 3k put all over on sites etc...never looked back...now is not soo many freerolls or trust worthy sites but is some my suggestion on those sites is move off certain amounts as you can never leave something that is gonna really piss you off these sites disappear ive lost some nice change over the years so ya...dont run up 500 and not withdraw etc..
