Can you profit consistently with sportsbetting?

I'm new to sportsbetting. I've messed around with a few bucks here and there on poker sites with sportsbooks, but that's about it.

Just wondering if it's possible to make long term profit through math or is it all just truly gambling in the long run if you're not involved in shady stuff?

On live betting you can also win big in one minute cause then you can actually see how team 1 or team 2 is actually playing and so on ...

Here I think it all depends on how gambling you are and what profit you want to receive. Personally, I get extra profit from the rates, but I won’t say that it’s a lot of money, and for such a profit I would not be able to live a month without basic work.

Представь, что ты и я играем в головы и хвосты. Каждый раз, когда я выигрываю, вы платите мне 100 рублей, а каждый раз, когда вы выигрываете, я плачу вам 90.

Вы можете стать счастливчиком и бросить монету 10 раз, вы выиграете 7 раз. Но если вы бросите монету бесконечно, то потеря орла и хвоста будет одинаковой. Таким образом, я выиграю, а вы в минусе. На мой взгляд, даже лучшие аналитики не могут дать результат, который можно назвать заработком.

It's hard to win in long-term at sportsbetting. If you became a very profitable gambler, bookmakers would certainly limit your maximum betting amounts. :burnout::icon_joke

I've heard stories that betting sites will not only put a limit on bets, but can also suspend your account or ban you from the site if you're "too good" at it.
Only heard stories because I've never been in that situation!

yeah - sports betting and poker have that in common - it's all about finding value. Then again, you can't exactly bluff the bookies

I think it is possible to be profitable daily, but you have to put your balance in perspective and only expect big profits with a big balance to play with.

My answer is no, I started betting NFL in Detroit with the bookies some years ago(illegal at that time). Luckily I won my first 3 games and never looked back. I only used my profit to bet with and managed to earned, guessing around 20 grand over 3 years before I quit. Stopped because it took the enjoyment out of the game for me. So yes maybe but you need discipline.

I think it depends on which sport you're betting on. In team sports, I think it's possible but in individual sports, it's a little bit hard because it depends on how well they perform in that particular match/tournament. If they play bad on that day everything's done. In contrast, in team sports, if an individual play bad in that particular match/day there's still a lot of their teammate to cover the bad player. So the performance in team sports are much more consistent than individual sports and is possible to make a consistent profit.

Yeah sure 1 player in team X might have bad day right but what if both 2 teams who went h2h tend to underpeform? That is probably easiest to see in football if 80+ minutes are played and either team is leading by 1 goal. In case like this it's usually (not so) smart to bet on one more corner in the game and then watch how BOTH teams cant even collect that one more corner in closing stages in order to try get something from match and/or to just waste time lol ...
