it's very similar to baseball ... baseball knew guys were cheating, but the fan interest, ratings and money the homerun chase between McGuire and Sosa generated ... no way were they going to do anything about it

same with cycling

i blame the sports far more than the athletes

It like to strongarm so many people to lie for you and the dude just keeps denying doping, just ludacris. They need to take all his money away, I just cant stand people put people like this on pedistals when its more than obvious with out the doping, Im sure he would of been totally outclassed for years now

This is something interesting to think about IMO - sure the sport is turning its back on Armstrong now and making all the appropriate "OMG I can't believe he was a cheat" noises, but would cycling have anything like the popularity it does now if it hadn't have been for Lance Armstrong? Cheat or not, he did single-handedly raise the profile of the sport around the world.

Most cyclits do some form of doping. Going after Armstrong when he didn't had a single positive for doping while on the tour, doesn't seem the right thing to do IMO, especially since doping is so widespread. Why not go after everybody who they may/could have any sort of suspicion who's cheating?

Armstrong has done so much for the sport, and for so many people outside cycling, that I feel disgusted about the way they have treated him.

Interesting thing is... now he is stripped of his 7 tour de france wins, the title goes to 2nd place winners ...Including 3 to Jens Ulrich and one to Ivan Basso.. Both of whom have been suspended in the past for taking drugs or supplements.
Doesn't seem right.
I love Tour De France and watch it and revovle my work schedule around it.

Last I heard no new winners for the competitions will not be appointed. Good thing that as well, since as you said all runner-up have been caught cheating. All 7 years runner-ups have played foul and all but one second runner-up... uke:

Although I have never been a serious cyclist I love watching cycling on TV, Le Toure, The Giro, La Vuelta etc, I watch them all but I have to admit I do not know if I will be able to face watching it again next season.
Even Bradley Wiggins went from condeming Armstrong one year to being non-committal the next. I am just so confused, I want to beleive there are some "straight" cyclists but at the moment I am finding it hard.
