Thanks for the advice Kid :)

Ended up wussing out and just taking Denver straight at $1.33. Already have the Carolina bet down, but haven't pulled the trigger on the Green Bay / Detroit over. Might just leave that. My thinking was (IIRC) they're both averaging over 30 points per game so far this season, and they're both conceding big scores too, but it's not a huge sample to work with.

Also got on New England (came into $1.95 by the time the bet was on, dammit!), St Louis, KC, San Diego -4, San Fran and Atlanta. Will see how I'm travelling by Monday morning my time!

Can anyone recommend a good book for explaining sports betting strategy?

What part are you interested in - making correct picks, working out whether you're getting a good price for said picks, or bankroll management?

My plays for the weekend. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

http://itsalock.wordpress.com/2013/10/04/swallow/

The Penn State pick looks like a sure thing to me, If they can't beat Indiana by at least a -14 nevertheless -3.5, even if they are going through a rough time Penn State should never back down to a team like Indiana who should have far inferior talent, I like this pick a lot

Yeah I do to, its looks so obvious it could be a trap game. I am thinking the line is so low because its PSU first road game...I think its should be a cruise.

Yea wish I would of bet more since it was a stone cold lock Saints @ home to win over the Dolphins.

I used to bet big on NFL, took a break for a while and so far this year im up around 2k.

I drasticaly cut down the amount of games I bet and amount of $$ I bet. It was becoming ehhh a problem? I mean saying it was a problem might be a bit drastic so lets just say I decided to change the way I earn a secondary income without the use of sportsbetting. I did consider myself about a 80% winner. I was always good at picking winners.

I used to advise my partners in picking and would get a % but I put an end to that.

Now betting on football is just a means for fun, not anything more than that. Petty cash I use now and if I lose that roll. My season is over, simple as that. (Maybe one rebuy of a c-note ;) LMAO) But lets hope it doesn't get to that point. :)

Did you consider yourself an 80% winner, or were you an 80% winner? Big difference.

Surprised that Dallas kept up. Romo looked like a top 5 QB, you wont see that every week.

Good move! Glad you came out a winner :)

Was driving me crazy. The ONE game I bet against Romo and he's looking unstoppable... Just glad I came out on top there lol.

San Fran's win takes me four from six so far this week, need San Diego -4 and Atlanta to get up for a .8 unit profit. Fingers crossed :)

Sorry bout SD last night Miller... didn't stay up to watch the game, but looks like SD got stuffed on a 4th and 1 play and just didn't show up.

I'm watching ATL right now... and they just aren't the same offensive powerhouse as last year. I mean I know they have injuries and all, but it's more than that. These plays that are being called are as if they're playing on their heels. These guys aren't for real...

LOL - so I gave up on the Atlanta game when they were what... about 10 points down? I come back to check the final score, see that they did indeed lose like I expected, then had to do a double take when I see that they'd come back only lost it on the final play of the game. D'oh!

Denver-Jacksonville spread is into 26.5 points over here - again, be interesting to see where it settles.

Here's what I'm thinking about for the coming week, opinions and advice?

Chicago WIN @ $1.28
Cincinatti WIN @ $1.33
Kansas City WIN @ $1.25
Dallas WIN @ $1.42
Indianapolis WIN @ $1.80

After that there's a bit of head scratching to do:

New Orleans are $2.13 dogs vs the Pats, I'm thinking seriously about a pick your own line bet on them when the prices come out (say if I can get +7.5 for a reasonable price)

San Fran is paying $1.19 straight for the win, again thinking of a pick your own line and getting a better price for around -5

Then there's the Seattle and Denver games. Both are obviously going in as huge favourites ($1.12 and $1.01 respectively) but there's those giant spreads (13.5 and 26.5 respectively over here at the moment). Pick your own line somewhere in between again probably

Thoughts or advice appreciated :)

@1.7 or so the Lions have decent value against the Browns, this is going to be an interesting game, Go Lions! I hope they can win here like they are supposed to

I like Giants tday at +8. Giants suck but I think Bears will have some trouble running away with the game.
