I would rather see sports not to be mixed with politicss. There place and time for both separately. At least for me sports is away time from everything else, relaxing and enjoying excitement and good performanses by pros.
If players have a platform to speak out about injustices happening in our society today and have an opportunity to do something about it, then it should be their prerogative to do so. By sitting out, it forced their rich owners to contact people higher up in the government and maybe actually change something, instead of everything staying at status quo.
Now, multiple arenas will be polling sites for the upcoming election and if athletes are the ones sparking change in their communites, then more power to them.
I mean, look at Masai Ujiri and how he was treated by the cop in the finals last year. The cop clearly pushes Ujiri first and then decides to take him to court, despite being the aggressor... and the only reason Ujiri came out on top was that he had the backing of the owners of the Raptors who are absolutely loaded with money.
