I've been a Redskins fan my whole life, and I don't know whether to be excited or extremely frustrated... I mean, McNabb has been a good QB for a while now, but this move just symbolizes everything that is wrong with the Dan Snyder era in Washington.

Help me through this, I can't think for myself right now

I agree, he's definitely better than Campbell. But it's such a short-sighted move, there's no way he stays here after this season. This is all that the Redskins do-- they pick up old players with no future, and call it rebuilding. It makes no sense!!

You're right though, it's probably a worse deal for the Eagles, lol, so I can't complain that much.

I'm not surprised the Eagles traded McNabb, with all the rumors going around, but I am surprised that they traded him to friggen division rival. He's going to be extremely motivated to do well against the Eagles when he plays them twice. I guess the Redskins were willing to offer substantially more than any other team.

I just heard about this a few minutes ago. I'm very surprised they traded him to Washington. Even though it might be a one year deal, the Redskins are a much better team now with McNabb at the helm. I could even see them contending this year if Portis could stay healthy.

He's got a little left in the tank-problem is he's so prone to injury. He was my QB in fantasy football the year the tore his ACL runnin to the sideline. Hate him for that.

This is where McNabb fades off into oblivion with a few more average seasons. Not good, not bad, but the Redskins wont be a Super Bowl contender with the players around him.

Did they trade McNabb straight up for Snyder? If so, good move.

i dont know that i understand this. yes. it should help this year, but why spend money on mcnabb? its really quite puzzling in a way, but then it goes along with numerous odd moves the team has made in recent years... im old enough to remember the art monk, joe theismann days. whatever happened to that?

The redskins will sign McNabb to a contract extension and will deal Jason Campbell to recoupe some of the draft picks they lost.. I guarentee it

Easy to see what the Redskins are thinking. This is their equivalent of Minnesota getting Favre from Green Bay (without the 1 year contractual obstacle). Well, they are going to be sadly mistaken, although they're on the right track. Redskins don't have nearly the talent as Minnesota at almost every position.

Conversely, I have no idea what the Eagles could be thinking. They have a fairly complete team, good depth, and a couple very promising rookies (Maclin & McCoy), who are now looking at a question mark in the leadership role. And for what? A 2nd round draft pick? BTW, the 2nd draft pick is a 4th or 5th round, to happen in the 2011 draft, and it's conditional to how well McNabb performs, and how they finish in general. That pick is negligible.

As a life-long Skins fan, this is huge! Weakens a division rival, strengthens an otherwise anemic offense in the process....all for the cost of 2 unproven rookies. Also, if the Skins get a 2nd round pick in exchange for Jason Campbell before the draft this year, then the deal for McNabb is a virtual wash, moneywise. Although McNabb isn't getting any younger, you can't fault what he's done on the field, year in and out for the past 10+ years.

Not to mention, the Skins have built a running back by committee approach adding Larry Johnson and Willie Parker to compliment Clinton Portis. If the Skins can now somehow find a way to add a stud WR, they'll be on the right track--->Santana Moss and Antwan Randel-El, aren't exactly the "stud" type, imo. Wow....just, wow. I still can't believe it.:congrats:

Final grade of trade:
Eagles......................F
Redskins..................A

This was a terrible trade by the Eagles. So what's the plan? Start Vick?

LMAO! The Redskins are contenders for the NFC east.

Kevin Kolb - it's already been officially announced. However, it was also officially announced that McNabb would be back as an Eagle, and not too long ago at that. Kolb started a few games early in the season when McNabb broke some ribs. His first outing was great, but if I recall correctly, a subsequent outing didn't go so well.

I'm convinced Vick will start. "Officially Announced" doesn't mean anything in the NFL.

I guess the Eagles wanted to get something for McNabb before it was too late. He's not what he used to be AND Vick wants to start. Andy Reid has had his problems with McNabb. I personally think it was a good decision to move McNabb - just not to the Redskins, not within the division. That's the mistake that I see. The Redskins only really lack a solid quarterback. There are holes on defense (Deangelo Hall) and on offense (Clinton Portis) but there are players that can step up at the right times.

McNabb seems to thrive with new young talents at WR. I think the receivers the Redskins have will compliment McNabb. Don't get me wrong, I know that this is McNabb's last shot. His best qualities are diminishing. He needs that ability to escape from the pocket and buy time to find open receivers down field for big plays.

Weren't you just talkin mad shit about Mcnabb in another thread? Now he's making the Redskins contenders?

An okay QB is better than a bad QB.

Jason Campbell is terrible. Any change is a step up.

McNabb is running out of gas.

Kolb will do okay but not great. Eagles will finish dead last in their division. Skins will be good but no where near the Cowboys. Getting McNabb helps them but their line isnt that great and Portis is never healthy. I think McNabb will still have a big year to show value to other teams who will want him when he becomes a free agent. He has a couple more good years in him, so dont count the dude out.

Dumb move by the Eagles, but expected.

Well this will be Kolb's 4th season. He was a 2nd round draft pick, 36th overall. And no doubt he wants to start too. How happy do you think he'll be if Andy goes back on his word now? He's earned the right for 1st shot. Vick is talented, but still somewhat of a loose cannon, if that's the right term. TBH, even w/Kolb starting, I see the beginnings of an season-long drama unfolding.

In the (albeit only) 2 Raider games I caught last year, I concluded that Jemarcus Russell was easily the worst QB I'd ever seen. He makes Jason Campbell look like Brett Favre. Reportedly McNabb didn't want to go there, nor to Buffalo (who can blame him on both counts?), so the Eagles unwittingly obliged, by shipping him off to their archrivals.. And 33 is not that old if you're surrounded by talent and a good offensive line to keep you healthy. It's not like a RB at 33, where they're totally spent. As for your Raiders, they better do something last at QB. They should do well in the draft if their scouting & front office has any brains.

That's true, and now it sounds like we're working on an extension. If we can keep McNabb here for three years or so, I'll feel better about the trade.

I agree and don't forget the other side of the drama too, Jason Campell will feel entitled to play if McNabb struggles. I think Kolb and Vick will duel it out in the offseason to find out who starts but the controversy will continue all season.
