No, NFL is becoming a boring brand of entertainment. It's not even a sport anymore--just like NASCAR--selling it's soul to the TV networks. I guess that the Redskins should probably get to keep the Lombardi trophy this year since they absolutely manhandled the eventual SB champs twice this year! When avg. teams are winning championships in professioal sports, the only people that suffer are the casual fans of the games

Couldn't disagree more. I enjoyed this season tremendously and some of the playoff games were very exciting.

I respect your opinions. The Giants were the "hottest" team left. They were far from dominant or great. I just miss the 90s when there were 2 great teams in the Super Bowl year after year. The Buffalo Bills that lost all of those Super Bowls would have wiped the field with either of those teams last night.

Well, yeah, except for the fact that they are the Bills. They'd find some way to choke it away:eek: . Unbelievable that as good as those Bills teams were, they never managed to win a Super Bowl. And FWIW, I never said the Giants were a dominant or awesome team, just the best of what was available. All the other playoff teams were obviously flawed in some way. So are the Giants. Just less so that everyone else.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. Players today are SO much bigger, stronger and faster, its unreal.

People often ask what would happen if the best college team (Bama or LSU) played the worst NFL team and the correct answer is that they would get absolutely obliterated. I could be way off base, but I really feel like it would be similar if you could take a team from the 80s and 90s and put them up against some of the better NFL teams today. Obviously a moot point since that can never happen and we'll never know the answer, but fun to imagine.

And no, putting them up against each other in the Madden video game does not count. :)

Just to illustrate my point a little further, I just found this info:

In 1970, only one N.F.L. player weighed as much as 300 pounds, according to a survey conducted by The Associated Press. That number has expanded like players’ waistlines from three 300-pounders in 1980 to 94 in 1990, 301 in 2000, 394 in 2009 and 532 as training camps began in 2010.

And its not like these 300 pounders are any slower than the linemen from 20-30 years ago, these guys are freakish athletes and would manhandle the majority of players back in the day IMO.
