Refusing to participate in the Olympic games before deciding to host the Games themselves has become a great example for other countries in fighting the virus and taking care of the health of their citizens. Canada is the first country to do this. What's not clear?

An example for whom ?? for what??? Everyone already knew that there would be no games and were waiting for official confirmation. But Canadians and other countries need to stand out and say that we will not participate. We will not participate in games which WILL NOT PLAY. Games will not be CARL !!! Think before you write something.

The way I read the first post was Canada had the foresight to protect their athletes from any part of the Covid-19 virus by pulling out of the 2020 Olympics? And yes, there is no guarantee the virus will be under control by that time. They just happened to be one of the first to announce they were not going to the Olympics. Or am I way off there?!

I think we would (or should) be thankful if they all cancelled given the global state of emergency. I suppose we could say it was a good move on the part of the NBA, FIFA, MLB, MLS, etc. however, all of these clubs or associations are not worldwide sports competition. So, I am surmising the reason Canada (and it could have been any other country for that matter) was mentioned was due to making the announcement first for one of the biggest global sporting events. Sound right?!
