So you became a manager/owner of your favorite poker room. What will be the first thing you will get rid of there and what will be the first thing you will implement or return and why?

Look, the first thing I would really get rid of would be disrespectful, aggressive and inconvenient players.
I would create a loyalty card for regular players who were not so profitable, even to encourage them not to give up.(y)(y)(y)

I know it is probably not realistic but if we just have to create a hypothetical scenario:

Things I get rid of

1. Excessive Rake - maybe a relative low rake per hour instead of from the pot.

2. Slow gameplay and excessive wait times. Efficient seating systems with mobile Apps or kiosks that allow players to register for games remotely and get seated faster.

3. No player assistance - leave all electronics at the door.

Things I’d Implement or Bring Back

1. Diverse game offerings - More mixed games for the people.

2. Modern tech integration. How about Automatic Chip Stacking Robots.

3. On-table food and drink service that doesn't disrupt play, with reasonably priced options.

4. Breakout lounges or quiet areas where players can relax between sessions.

Just for fun

Bad Beat Comfort Food: If someone suffers a really bad beat, have a waiter bring them an immediate comfort food snack.

To earn a pretty penny, you don't have to be a leader, you just need to find a niche that leaders and other competitors don't see yet or that isn't of interest to them. It's strange that there is no Bitcoin room with Americans, Englishmen and Brazilians.Cryptocurrencies are hard to block and are truly liberal, even if dangerous.I don't mean deposits in crypto, but rather playing with it.The goal of the room owner is to attract as many players as possible and keep them in the game. If a visitor visits the site every day and spends several hours playing cards, then he will pay several hundred dollars a month just for the rake. Such a client can be considered almost ideal. For a poker site, rakeback is one of the most powerful marketing tools. Rake and rakeback have a direct impact on both casino revenue and player satisfaction.Get ready right away that my new site will have a hard time competing with such monsters as pokerstars, Full Tilt, 888 in the face of huge competition. These companies have everything: fame, authority, long history, huge advertising budgets, all possible analytics on the state and development of the market. But what can make players leave them for my project?Your own vision of the ideal poker room, and understanding how to interest a certain segment of the audience, finding a way to reach a larger audience and working in a local market that has not yet been taken over by large companies. This requires knowledge, experience, time.

I would ensure all activities comply with local gambling laws and regulations and create a welcoming environment with comfortable seating, good lighting, and decor that creates a great poker experience. I would try to offer a variety of games and stakes to attract different player interest.

The first thing I would bet rid off is old seats and tables.

I don't think there would be any that I will get rid of. There are 2 things that I would implement.
a. Based on profitability, there must be regular FRs to attract players to the room. Regular players are the lifeblood of a poker room.
b. Based on profitability, there will be free dinner for players on the tables on Fridays. Players will be happy & will continue playing!

First I would thank my sweet aunt Penny for leaving this casino for me in her will. God rest her soul in that banged up Lamborghini that she was buried in.

Then I would do a customer survey and sit down with the staff.

If major issues rise to surface I wouldn't hesitate to act on them. Including but not limited to, firing people.

My job is to get my hand in the customer's pocket as deep as I legally can. What ever helps me in doing so shall be done.

Making people feel safe and welcomed are the best starting steps to get into their wallets.

I would have door prize drawings and good food.

I would get rid of me playing. I ran a game one time and some players took exception to me running the game and winning.

I would get rid of the big rakes to increase the number of clients and implement a separate children's room for their children to have fun while their parents play poker.

I almost was going to manage a poker room.
What was the problem?
They would allow smoking, in that closed environment.
First i will make it a no smoking area. (Smoking outside the door)
2nd is the rake %.
Keep the rake low and attract more players.
I would implement more weekend tournaments.
Satellite tournaments during the week to allow players to qualify for the weekend games.
People love variations, so a cash game table with alternative games.
Free dinner on the big tournament nights.
Also a weekly best hand winner, bad beat bonus schemes.
Good local music, TV showing poker games
Food and drinks at a subsidiary cost.

I would institute a live Cardschat club at my casino with freerolls and leagues and special events. Since that would be incredibly popular I would have a live Cardschat poker course where students were graded in order to earn entry into the freerolls, leagues and special events. It would be an exclusive club attracting and retaining the most enthusiastic and dedicated members. Players who are consistently having trouble would be required to retake the course to regain entry to the games. We would have advanced level courses and real money buy-in games for advanced players. And of course every year we would host the Cardschat world series of poker. Winners would receive entry packages to the wsop.

Great question.

I would first up locate the noisy slots away from the playing area, man it boils my **** when casinos are not adequately sound proofed to play tourneys.

Next up - invest in decent food and drink and customer service staff that actually wanna be there and reward them according to their efforts and feedback alongside basic pay, make it worth their while to be part of my Casino and part of a family team.

Hold theme nights - with a band playing to draw in a different section of business, i have seen this done well in the UK and its a money spinner if organised well.

Code of conduct and loyalty rewards to encourage people in the door and keep bums on seats.

I would invite regulatory officials in to ensure our service was top standard and make this a regular thing, if the industry changes, i want us to be at the tip of the spear.

Im just getting started ;)

The first thing I would do is get rid of the bullies, bigots and other disrespectful assholes. Play the game and be nice to people, if you have to act like an asshole, find others of your ilk and have your own game elsewhere.
The second thing is make sure the game is fair and rules are consistantly enforced the same way by all the staff.

First of all, I will return our CardsChat freerolls or make them much more frequent. For example, 3 times a day :)
In addition, I will definitely make available a deposit and withdrawal method in cryptocurrency to have fast, instant deposits and withdrawals. In addition, I will recruit a qualified support team that will answer players' questions in no more than 20 minutes.

Hi @R.Melnyk77

All sounds like excellent ideas. The question, however, is about a live poker room.

Try again remembering that.

Thanks Marc

Get rid of employees with bad attitudes

Add More tournaments
A freeroll night to attract new poker players, maybe even some sort of beginners game and try to incorporate teaching new players hand charts and positional play.
A buy in league would be cool
Some sort of bad beat bonus (only rare bad beats) not positive exact terms would have to think on it
Variant tournament where change variant each break. Might have to give out entries as promotional to boost player numbers
a disguise so i can play in my own poker room

Many posters suggest lowering the rake , which would be great from a player's perspective .Sadly one of the manager's jobs is to keep the owners happy , and they expect profits , so i dont see how that could work unless traffic increased dramatically with a reduction in the 'drop'.

Not a real question for me, because I miss a lot of business knowledge to do such a job, so mainly I would sell this business to someone with better understanding for this business.

Is it an online room or a live poker room?
I forced,
I would reduce late reg times for tournaments, as also multiple opportunities to buy in, max 2 buys in opportunities,
it is for fairness and a much more friendly tournament play, imo.

I would get the menu up to scratch. Too many rooms just have standard average unhealthy food.....they need to start making at least some decent options that are actually good for you as well

Probably literally no one would buy these new meals and I would go bust!!

Get rid of:
**Those slot machines.

Implement:
**A freebie tourney on Sunday afternoon.
**A full kitchen with a real chef to ensure a permanent free food and drink availability.

Well, for starters I would invest a bunch of money into getting a massive flashy looking prize spinning wheel with laser lights and sound effects that every patron would be allowed to spin for free every 6 hours or so, tracked by a timer. I would put a bunch of juicy prizes on that wheel: Free entries into prestigious tournaments. Cash/chips. Maybe some food items at the restaurant or bar. Some free spins on the casino games. And also a ticket into a tournament that pays out $5 between hundreds of entrants. Then I would rig that wheel so that it would always land on that lowball tournament ticket UNLESS some really rich high rollers were spinning (then they can get some of those juicy prizes, which would be peanuts compared to what they would be spending). Then I will instruct my staff to advise anyone that spins the wheel and complains about the lowball ticket that they should be thankful that they get anything at all, those cheap schmucks.
