How has PokerStars Aurora Graphics affected YOU?

Seems there are a lot of complaints about pokerstars forcing Aurora Graphics on all of us in the past week where they have removed any option of turning the 'feature' off. What I want to know is how has this affected your computer and what do you plan to do about it?

I am posting this poll to see how Aurora has affected you. Please participate if you play regularly on PokerStars and let us know in the comments what you have done about it or what you plan to do about it.

I have taken to Twitter @ClintFromNYtoVA to let Pokerstars know how it compromises my computer and hogs the resources of the GPU making multi tabling impossible. It also makes simultaneously watching YouTube videos impossible as the video stutters and freezes. Luckily I found a chrome extension called Audio Only YouTube which will allow me to listen but not watch videos.

PokerStars has replied to me in private concerning Aurora and advised me to update the drivers and tick off all of the low settings. They also advised me to change the table setting to Carbon (beta). I said I would and would get back to them.

I replied that the Carbon setting is a shell of nothingness and that is likely why it works better. On the Carbon setting there are no stacks of chips shown, only a hollow circle with the amount of the 'stack' placed next to it. It is not even comparable to the original days of online poker graphics and offers much less visually (but it will allow you to throw things at your opponent).

I've had my computer crash twice in the past few days but to be honest I assumed it was because of Hand2Note acting up instead of a result of the new graphics engine but maybe PS was the culprit. I'm disappointed I can't use Stars Helper and I cant make the cards big anymore!

I can play on PokerStars but Aurora Graphics have ruined the experience.

I can play but the graphics interface is crude and really ugly. I turned off as many of the graphic demands as possible, then even switched all play to a better computer. The problem being the better computer was less compatible (graphics wise) with Aurora and then all sank to an even lower level.

I just read about the EPT Prague having to go online and the first thing which struck me was a serious pro tournament played with these graphics?

No performance issues here, have all the graphics levels set to either low or off, throwables also turned off. Multi tabling quite a few games and only using about 10% CPU.

The only issue I have is that if I'm thinking about a spot on a table and it's my turn on other tables it used to alert me on the taskbar by flashing the application icon so that I could bring up the other table and make my action there whilst still considering what to do on the other table. Now it no longer alerts me so alot of games are close to the time bank before I get around to them.

I have been waiting for a reply from pokerstars for 4 days after sending in my log files.. its completely unplayable for me constantly crashing on cash tables. Have been playing on other sites the last week.

well ... in my case I have been able to play at pokerstar but my computer slowed down ... and that worries me a lot ... sometimes it freezes for a few seconds and that deconcentrates me ... I hope this improves in the future

My problem is my graphics card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 which is too old, they recommend at least a 4000.

I got some improvement playing with the settings (turned 3D graphics down to the minimum and performance settings to max). Between that and turning off some of the aurora options it's a bit better.

I can play up to 3 tables now but they are 'jumpy'. Not bad enough to get disconnects but definitely not smooth. One table is not terrible but again what it was

I put multi-tabling for me as my problem is trying to raise a bet, I'm close to shoving all in and if I have a few tables that need attention then one day I will do just that

I chose the first one because I have moved to partypoker, It was several things.
1. Their non transparent rakeback.
2. Those damn antes on zoom tables.
3. The new aurora bullshit. When I choose another background than the default one the table blinks after most hands on zoom tables.
4. Lower effective rake on Partypoker.

But Partypoker is far from perfect. I can not download hand histories and analyze my play with software. Other people can. So not a level playing field. But I plan on playing there until i find something better. Any suggestions?


Currently I do not expect to ever play on Pokerstars again and the software has been removed from my computer. **** Amay! They ruined something that was good.

Intel Core i7-8750H and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB G-SYNC)!!! Unbelievable!!!



I think, I will also check setting and turn off all unneccessary stuff, like the bothering throwables and so on.
I also think the chat window became worse as it is impossible now to unpin it anymore.
I just hope, they will change things asap again.

I wish I could pin this comment to the top. This is incredible that a new gaming computer with an advanced GPU and an i7 chip would have issues.

add in your survey the option `` I do not like the new version at all '' so that we can participate in the survey because I do not play more than two tables and I do not have this problem, on the other hand I I don't like it at all and I can't see the ratings on the players as easily as I did before, and even when you want to review the previous action it has become complicated and it takes a lot longer, whereas 'before it was instant and quick, too bad

I suspect that many players like myself are playing on older computers and laptops and can’t afford to upgrade. I can still play on PokerStars but only with all the extra graphics turned off and the aurora graphics on low and even then have still been experiencing more and more laggy tables.

Next month when I can start taking part in the cards chat freerolls will just have to win enough money so I can afford a new laptop

Here i thought i had problems
I have uninstalled PS many times and after re-installing i initially get the old format which i perfer but as soon as i enter a new game it changes back to aurora
Dont like it at all

There is an easier fix.
1. Delete Pokerstars
2. Create an account somewhere else.

Font text is to thin on Aurora. On the old themes, the table appearence was way better, the color of the back of the cards (seeing better which opponents are still in play, usefull in multitabling).

Aurora has just some faded colors, very thin font of the stack-numbers.

The old theme Mercury had the option to put custom colors in a big range of colors, like in the Windows-Paint program.

In Aurora, this option dissapeared.

Of course, not to mention that PC is going worse since Aurora was implemented. :thumpdown

They really should give an option to use the old graphics, otherwise, this site became a garbage.

there are problems, now you can see the notes when you play several tables! and it became hard for the computer, there is a lag inhibition, in general, I do not like it!

Good morning mate.I already voted on your survey.Well , in my case,I don´t like that Aurora engine at all.I can play on Stars , at least , 2 tables, but my problem starts when I want to multi table in other sites,specially on 888.For example, I had the CC weekly freeroll on Stars while on 888 the $1000 Casino Mix Up and the Level 40 freerolls at the same time.On Stars,I could play normally but on 888 my tables got frozenIt was really annoying.Thanks for everything and I hope more members will participate on your survey.
