How long can variance last? Is it supposed to be this extreme? Because it's killing me mentally. In the past weeks i've been having bad beats and suckouts too many times in my sessions. When i say extreme i talk about losing to those 4%-12% equity hands and runner runners (A LOT). i´ve been playing my most A-game possible, i tend to analyse most of my hands and the mistakes are minimal. Is there any tips or advice someone can give me? cuz this is so frustrating.
Don't see this happening in the same frequency as live poker.

I find it helps when I cross my fingers 3x before I put my chips in. Also, for more success cross your legs and ankles too.
Never hurt anyone to keep a rabbit's foot nearby or perhaps some gemstones under your monitor (< this is what I do!)

Let me know how it works for you.

Online is a different beast than real life poker, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I find doing a fistpump celebration before the chips go in helps a lot. It primes the board to go my way.

Thanks. I'm glad you laughed. In reality (as I'm sure you're discovering), variance in Poker Tournaments can make a person go crazy! It can be extremely painful. Dealing with it is a skill that I'm not sure I'll ever master. I've actually been playing Cash Games for the past 10years but still hanging on to the plan of playing Tournaments again... and perhaps on a regular schedule (3 or 4 days, ~30hours per week). But.. maybe not. It's a tough grind for sure!

That's what ggpoker is, my friend. Playing in a big field is just like that. Try to play in smaller fields, work on your mindset, and try to perform at your best, looking for the most profitable plays. That way, you beat the variance, but if you don't get out of it, it's because you didn't beat the field. In that case, studying and trying to evolve and putting it into practice is the only solution. Gl at the tables, little brother.

Not just from GG, but from every poker site. After all, we're talking about poker.
What happens is that GG has many players, a determining factor for variance. The more people playing, the greater the variance. Search for rooms with fewer players and be happy

ggpoker is a site that has a lot of variance, because it has a lot of players, playing on sites like acr, tigergaming, 888 can reduce the variance.

I see a lot of people itt saying that a large player pool or field size is a determining factor in variance.

Its not.

Hello, the variance is sometimes incomprehensible. Go ahead and be positive.

On GGPoker, I usually only go all-in when I'm sure I'm going to win the hand. I've lost many times when I had a very strong hand and the villain hit on the river. It's not worth the risk of trying to win the hand by force in online poker. You have to be patient and eventually the wind will blow in your favor.

In live poker you play at most 30 hands per hour. Online you are playing around 300 hands per hour, if you have 4 tables running. So 4-tabling online there will be 10 times as many bad beats per hour. But there will also be 10 times as many good situations. The best advice is to take a break, if you are tilted. But this is only the short term solution. Long term you need to learn caring less about short term results.

If you play tournaments and have many all-in before the river situations, it can help to not look at the board runouts. Say someone min-raised, and you jammed AQs for 18 bigs. At this point you have no more decisions to make, so essentially the hand is over, and you should shift your focus to your other tables. If you then get the message "thank you for playing", the game is over, and its not really important to know, how exactly it happened.

even a strong hand is not a 100% guarantee of success)) 72 against a pair of aces preflop and they have a 20% chance of winning)))
