This past weekend, the 2017 MSPT Indiana State Poker Championship drew 320 runners to Tropicana Evansville. After two long days of play, 32-year-old Satish Thakur, an IT programmer for the state of Michigan, emerged victorious to capture a $71,047 prize. This past weekend, 25-year-old Ahmed Taleb, who four years ago traveled from Morocco to the United States to pursue his education, beat out 215 other entrants to win the MSPT Grand Falls Main Event for $54,098.

The MSPT Cleveland Poker Open at JACK Cleveland Casino drew 581 entries to create a $581,000 total prize pool. It also marked the MSPT’s first Main Event of Season 9 and their first-ever stop in Ohio. On Sunday night, 34-year-old Abdul “Dulie” Amer of Columbus, Ohio, finished as the last player standing to win $118,350.

Well, I failed that goal. Maybe this year. I was only able to hit 1 poker tour last year and that was the Heartland Poker Tour, because it hit Kansas City.

Over the weekend, the MSPT wrapped up its first stop of Season 9 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. The MSPT Canterbury Park proved to be the second-largest in 15 visits with 491 entries (the record is 493 from last December), and on Sunday night it was Mark Collins who emerged victorious to win $102,076.
