No, not really.
If there is some freebie available I will most likely use it but I stop after it's finished.

But those that have rules like: play n amount of this, those and that to get a shot in some Hail Mary, nah it is better to avoid those.

Nope! I always play what I like - promotions can jump from my freezer, even then I wouldn't "jump" in...🙂

What kind of poker promotions are you talking about? The only ones I generally see are the deposit bonuses, which are good when you first join a site, but if you have to keep coming back for more, maybe it's time to find a different hobby.

Hello. I used to take advantage of promotions. And now I know that it's not allowed. Just what we play with.

Some sites offer temporary promotions where you need to play X games of type Y for something like tournament or cash bonus money or to enter some sort of shootout to win something.

hi Andyreas, not usually!
The promotions that attract me are related to deposits that offer MTT tickets in deposits, which are generally sent in the email box and are super valid.
EX: if you make a new deposit on a certain date we have the opportunity to play a good tournament outside the buy-in we played, I think this is very good for the player and sites.

I'm curious about your opinions by the above question.
I usually don't participate in such promotions, because they always want something in return, and since I'm a very safe player, if you know what I mean, 😁I let it pass.😁

Yes, of course, if there are good promotions, then I will even register there if I haven't played before.

Hey forum,

I'm curious about your opinions by the above question.

I figured I tend to play more or formats I usually don't play just to make use of the promo. It's not always a good trade. 😅
I evaluate the promtion.
If it is a good promotion then I will take advantage of it, but a lot of promotions are rubbish, so I don't bother.

Well said, I do exactly the same thing.

Not so long ago one such site came out with their annual advent calendar type promotion - pretty sure i didnt complete even one daily mission there so with the (obvious) answer to this thread being NO guess i'm starting to get old

The only time I gamble real money is if I get offered a promotion that is good enough so that I would have substantial positive equity while operating on the assumption I am no better or worse than my opponents. Right now these are hard to find on pokerstars which is the only room I check on regularly so I have been doing the free spin of the day and thats all. The increased equity as a result of a promotion must cover the rake and then some for me to do actual gambling.

PS promotions became kind of ridiculous. In order to make any profit from GG promotions, you need to multi-table all day long. So my answer is NO. I just stick to my routine, a few SNGs a day and 2 or 3 MTTs a week.

Yes! But then I realize that the promo is on a site that I can't play....due to being in the US.

Hi Andyreas,

It has been a while since I ran into your post and you for that matter :). What's up!

I do get influenced by promotions, if I think there is some edge or it would cost me nothing to take a chance. PokerStars had some nice promotions when I was allowed to play on the site and I would participate very often. I especially liked the PowerPath promotion and I did land a SilverPath Package to bump my bankroll from 100 to 600 bucks :). The other promotions with the chests, never really did much for me though but it was still good fun. .

As long as you have self-control and play within your bankroll, there is really no harm in participating in promotions. I think they are designed to catch the people who are clueless about good gambling practices.

It should be safe to say that many of us seasoned CC Players will not get trapped by the glitz and glamour of promotions that do not offer much value.

Have fun bud and see you at the tables :D

Depends on the promo and if its worth completing, i'll always check whats on offer, but sometimes its not worthwhile. E.g. when its not youe usual format its not really worth it unless you can be +ev including the bonus. Also some bonuses require too much grinding! E.g cardex on pokerstars can be tough when you need to win 7 hands all with crappy specific cards (like do you really want to 3bet 72o just to complete the promo!)

If the promotion is for games I would play anyways then I'll usually put in a bit more volume to hit whatever mark it is to make me eligible, the cash leaderboards on PS would be a good example, but in general I just play what I want. 888 Always offers me a few free tickets to their spin and go games if I make a deposit but despite enjoying spins I dislike how fast 888's spins structure is and don't bother to make use of a bonus I would snap up if they offered the slower blinds deeper stacked variant that sites like PokerStars offers.

I think it's important to be mindful of what promos are running at various sites and taking advantage of them in the way that gives you the best chance of building your bankroll. That would be focusing on the game types you want to play and then taking advantage of promotions that run around games you already beat or are close enough to beating that the promo will make the games +EV.

I don't care about promotions unless they are the ones that give free gifts, the rest I don't even see

Yes, such things affect me. In general, my favourite site is 888, and it is my favourite because of the regular cool promotions. I also like GGPoker, which sometimes also has good promotions. I believe that promotions are the basis for developing the popularity of a poker site and an effective mechanism for increasing the customer base.

Promos are like shiny bait—they hook you into waters you don’t usually swim in, and sometimes, you end up paying more for the "free lunch"!
