Booked a cancellable stay in Sept, couldn't figure out why rates where very high one weekend, found out it's a music Festival. Palazzo had good rates for three of the days and has fully renovated pool so we booked three days there. If you log into your rewards, the linq was showing some days $10 rooms (plus resort fee of course). We booked rest at Nomad, we've stayed in Park Mgm section before....the Nomad rooms looks just slightly upgraded....their pool is usually a pool party on weekends but you can go to the main Park MGM pool if the Jemaa party is happening on the Nomad pool. Looks like the Eataly in Park Mgm has a new fried chicken place. Looks like prices are really going back up in Vegas.

I haven't been out to Vegas in many years, but I remember liking the 1-3 NL games at Caesar's Palace and Bally's.

We always stayed at either The Mirage or Flamingo, and really didn't have any issues with them.

Just wondering, for everyone that has been to Vegas after the pandemic:

Around how much did your trip cost?
Where did you stay and eat?

Last time I was in Las Vegas was because of a flight lay over in 2008, was coming back from San Francisco, at the time had no interest in Poker or really anything cards, geez if I only knew then what I know now!! 2008, could of had some great games going on my stop!

I am sure the strip has changed a LOT, it was going through a lot of changes when I was there back then!

Anyways, can't wait to get back...and although this is not at all a SF contribution thread, if ever in SF, stay at "The Palace" it is absolutely amazing, and a timeless hotel... have stayed there a few times and always amazing.

Back to Vegas, I am excited to play poker in Vegas and really want to play at the Aria. Hoping to this Summer! Thanks for all the info posted here!

I found many good places to stay and play poker in Vegas. There are also some good restaurants but I found it a good idea to go off the strip.

Check out the great deals online during the off season to stay at the premium hotels. It's well worth it to search for a great package and tip the front desk at the start to get an upgrade. Caesar's centrally located is/was great.

Has anyone stayed at the Rio lately? I just saw recent reviews and...just saw a recent video of one of the rooms on YT..:0! I loved staying there, but the recent video of one of the rooms and recent reviews..wow, I am not sure what to think ... don’t feel like posting it cause loved staying at the Rio in the past, but am curious of someone’s experience. Has it really changed this much!?

Thanks!

Has anyone stayed at the Circa yet? It's like 3x more expensive than most of the other hotels, but I hear it's really nice.
I was wondering if Circa? will have a Poker Room

Unfortunately, it does not. Of course, their big thing is the Sportsbook and the giant screen.

I think the best place to play poker downtown is still the Golden Nugget.

If anyone stays at Resort World this summer could they post a review of the experience? The international food court sounds like it would be a great experience.

Thanks for suggestions

I am sure this is not the most popular question for this thread but was curious if anyone has found the best budget place that is not super sketchy in Vegas lol. I am really only wanting to go to play poker, but would like to spend the least amount as possible for a hotel/motel (without being in a sketchy place)

Various:
I understand the whole bed bugs issue, bed bugs come from international travelers bringing them with luggage 'unknowingly' and well, even the finest hotels will get bed bugs...I can't imagine any establishment not taking care of that issue once it is found out..so there is that and don't consider bed bugs as being from a sketchy place or a place that just doesn't care to address it etc lol

A place that looks pretty cool with awesome rates is the "Oasis at Gold Spike" I get the downside... is it is a party place with tons of loud noise, hell they even give you earplugs when you stay there lol, but the rates are great and the place looks pretty cool.

Anyone have any suggestions for someone just wanting a decent enough place to sleep to play poker?

Thanks

What a great guid!

A lot of members ask about the best places to stay in Vegas - and we are here to help you! You can check out this page:

Las Vegas Guide

We also have our own reviews in this thread! You can help us out by giving a review of the hotels you have stayed at in Vegas and we will link your review next to that hotel.

Also mention if they have a poker room or not and whether they host tournaments if you know.

We want restaurant recommendations too so feel free to leave those!

You will find many member reviews by clicking on the links below. You can also ask questions here.

I know this will sound like a stupid question, but where is the best laundromat in Las Vegas?

Not a stupid question in my opinion, especially if anyone plans to stay for a longer than normal period of time, but not one I had thought about. I wonder if you ask the concierge at a hotel what they would recommend for the criteria you are looking for?

Putting together a short video with new places to eat or visit that have popped up in Vegas since the pandemic. Any requests for certain parts of the city? Can be on or off the Strip

As a person who uses public transportation or feet, and often stays for 2-3 weeks, I'm very experienced with laundromats. My main go-tos are Busy Bee (about 8 blocks east of Fremont Experience downtown) and Spin Cycle (E. Tropicana, an easy bus ride). There's also the 24-hour Laundromat, but I find the other two easier to get to when I want to do a morning's wash, and not very crowded, plus pretty safe and friendly. Whereever you go, check the hours and take a lot of quarters just in case the change machine (or attendant) is broke.

rescheduled my September trip to April from canada cause I didn't want to pay for all the Covid testing, (w exchange rate it ends up being close to 600$/two people for testing on both sides, I'd rather spend that on clothing or food etc. in Vegas. Did read a recent Vegas post on FB that the Orleans casino has the cheapest testing, think it said $80, so maybe April is not looking so bad now.

Came in here to say is the Orleans is now one of my favorite poker rooms in Vegas, they have the room full everyday I've been here. They run anything from 1/2 nl to 15/30 Omaha. The room is run well and the staff is great. The seats are also very comfy. They run daily promotions and have a bad beat jackpot.
I got a hell of a deal on Allegiant on the resort I'm staying at. My direct flight from Indy and the 2 weeks at the Tahiti Resort was under 800. I knew resort fees weren't included and would be paying an extra amount on top of that, but still considered it a great deal. I was originally booked at their resort on Las Vegas Blvd but they called and said no rooms were available and were moving me to their one on Tropicana with the bonus of no resort fees.
Made this the best deal ever. I usually uber around Vegas but they are 1/2 mile from the Orleans and they have a resort shuttle that drops you off at the city center in the Aria on the strip.
I have a 1bdrm , it has a full kitchen, living room, in room safe, washer/dryer , coffee maker which is a must for me , and a bonus jacuzzi deep soak tub.
There are multiple restaurants next door along with a Walgreens.
I was told this place wasn't the best to walk at night. I'm from Indy so telling me it isn't the best place to walk at night isn't a concern, lol.
However it's directly on Tropicana and it's a very busy road. so I've felt more than safe walking to the Orleans early morning and early evening. There is also a pot dispensary about a mile's walk from the resort which was also a bonus if you're into that sort of thing. :)
Charles Frias park is directly across from the resort, but I've been doing so much walking I've not actually visited it to walk around.

I know this is from September, but if you are in for the wsop and you need to do laundry, this is where I did laundry a couple years ago. It is pretty close to the Rio ( I walked with a backpack of dirty clothes from the Rio) You could walk or catch rideshare. It is just a little coin-operated laundry with different size washers and dryers and a convenience store attached. It is at 4275 S Arville street. It is just across the street from the Palms (on the farthest side of the Palms coming from the Rio.) I walked there at night but I would not recommend that, it was a pretty sketchy walk at night, go in the daytime or catch an Uber.

South Point makes sense to stay and play poker, the tournaments are fun and laid back and the place is very reasonably priced. Yes, I’m that dude that walked to Walmart to get some cheap food (figured everything was going to be overly priced and I just needed a walk and to get air actually but the food is cheap enough at South Point (if you really go there on cost) I have never had two amazing hotdogs for 2.50, (even thinking back to the 80s) I just gave 5 because that’s just how you tip for 2 hot dogs (that are delicious!) with relish for 2.50! I make it a point not to eat hotdogs, but I couldn’t help it, the cost was just so insane I had to try, PLUS it had relish!

I didn’t go to their 5 dollar steak and eggs after midnight with hash browns (where in the universe can you find such a deal?!) Lol

The gift shop is super cheap for beer, ironically it costs less than the actual grocery store where I live in Texas. I am so very confused.

If you google search and reserve, you can get a ride from/to the airport on their shuttle for free. Just remember to go to the lower level, and tip of course.

South point rocks for poker players

Side topic: Wth is going on in Nevada that they don’t have/sell reusable bags? Also weird that I physically sign on credit card receipts (saw this at many places in Las Vegas), haven’t seen that since the 90s lol

I had a great time at the MGM. Ready access to all the surrounding casinos great rooms. Although I didn't spend much time in them. And there poker room is pretty cool. Plenty of sit and gos and ring games with tons of tourists willing to dump their money off. Just to say they played. And usually their rich enough not to care and have little no experience.

I think that for the money, the Golden nugget is a great value (through Priceline VIP), considering I am only in Las Vegas to play poker..as long as the room is clean, I think it works. Was going to stay at the Apache, but just not so sure, (although I do like the vintage theme there etc) Golden Nugget seems to fit perfectly for budget.

I still think staying and playing at south point is an awesome idea for poker, but just want to check everything out, and what's better than on Freemont street right?:)

My favorite place to stay in Vegas was Lady Luck. Always had a good time and was treated well. At one point the person with player club number 7 passed away. I was offered the chance to change my player number to number 7. All I needed to do was flash card 7 and I was moved to the front of the buffet line. Received many comped shows. I think they assumed that I got the number from my dad.

Now there are no comps that compare to what old Vegas was.

Now I do more of my gambling on cruise ships. Not much poker, unless part of a poker cruise. But I can generate free cruises.
