I started day 2 of the tournament with 226k and in 135th place out of 167.

I entered the game with total focus on doubling up and playing calmly.

At the beginning, in three or four crazy points, I managed to get over 1M of my opponents' chips.

I managed to play well until, in the remaining 15th, I was CARDING DEAD, by 4 blinds...

When the 13 and 12 came... an AKo appeared in the SB. BT came ALL IN, I thought a lot and there was no escape... CALL.....

Vilão showed the JJ x AKo and I was eliminated from the tournament, and 5 minutes later the FT started.

But I consider it an excellent tournament, the first tournament of this size... and remember that the BUY IN was won with the 5th place in the FREEROLL.

Final count....
  • Saturday: 5th place (FREEROLL): R$ 800.00
  • Thursday: Buy IN (100K GTD): R$ 200.00
  • Sunday: 11th place (100K GTD): R$ 2,000.00
TOTAL: R$ 2,600.00

It was amazing and once again I was photographed... I'll need a CARDSCHAT hoodie soon...

And I am always grateful to the entire CARDSCHAT community, which has always been my main learning base.

Its been mentioned previously (as often with many posts, really good advice is given in this community by so many) but sleep, hydration, getting to the venue in good time, being self disciplined to step away from the table if you can if a bad beat happens, taking a break away from the actual table on formal breaks and have a walk - i often will stretch the legs and wander around the casino i am at.
Make sure you have refuelled before the game and taken a comfort break!

In live tournaments, I have noticed that we need to prepare differently depending on the length of the blinds.

In 20-minute tournaments, we have a rhythm that we need to pay attention to. With 15-minute blinds, we can't have anything that can get in our way and we need to be even more focused.

In tournaments with blinds longer than 30 minutes, we can play more calmly....

And I have noticed that the preparation is completely organized according to the tournament...

The general part is always a good night's sleep, good hydration, good nutrition, before the tournament.... but during the tournament, you should hydrate in moderation so that you don't have to go to the bathroom too much, since we will be in a cold environment, which helps with that urge...
Having something to eat like a mix of nuts during the tournament...

These are the things I have been noticing throughout this period..

And I still haven't had the experience of playing a series... with almost daily games... I'm only playing 1 or 2 times a week...

I follow some of her Vlogs on YouTube, but I've never seen her posts here again...

depending on the amount of people and buy in.
2 to 3 tables i would be a bit more aggressive at first seeing the blinds are small and you want to built up some chips.
when there are over 3 tables, be a bit more picky on the cards you play, still be aggressive but with vgh's.

This is how I have been doing it...
Free tournaments usually have an average of 80/90 players.
The one I am going to play will be much more competitive, but it should reach around 100/120 players per day 1

I dont think you can prepare for a live play tournament....You can try to be at best health etc...Two big things you dont feel or see online....First is all the folding how long it takes for each hand etc....You can go hours without playing a hand....2nd we play online multiple tables whatever...Most tournaments are 3-4 hours.....basically even beating 12,000 which ive done at pokerstars and playing 8-9 hours does NOT prepare you for live play game or even one full day imo....You might have days though also 5 of them etc...You just have to go and work it honestly learn it...Take notes on what you notice....Live and online are two different animals to me I prefer live get more tells on people etc...I like the pace plenty of time to think..I like to talk so figure out who they are as people...I was so confident at one point live I actually went to tables believing fully that your wallet you brought to a table was MINE that is how big ego I had....Met some guru's played johnny chan once lol...Saw real minds in this game....I held own 8 months coming out a bit ahead on 2/4 3/5 holdem daily rake...with same pro group...But ya not sure how to be ready for that or tournaments over online. Just so different...Is easy to go all in online you can just go to next game etc...You have to think a lot more live imo...I had rules 4 buy ins for cash 2 reloads for tourneys if allowed etc..certain amount of time not hitting money wanted take rest of day off etc...The patience to win a tournament live few days tournament __--- played a guy heads up a full day 9 hours to win an event...that patience throwing out 5 risky chances where he might have caught beat me? You cant learn that except by application imo....i won over 50 tournaments head to head at one point...Aggression but laying down certain times when sure was ahead cause i KNEW i was the better player had reads id tell them this the psychological part im laying down this monster i know i got you but you might catch.....annie duke taught me this side when first got sick playing me at ultimate bet at nights....teaching me more on psychological side and that side can make you a giant...imo you have to have image presence and one thing if getting lucky sometimes show your lucky...sometimes show a bluff for the other reason etc...reading is everything live but you can use your mind to win a war before the battle even begins let them KNOW you are better then them etc...or try to :) online you can pretty much figure out your odds of winning a tournament how many need to play to get a top finish etc...you can go months good pros have went years not making a final table...its rough rake to me is a lot easier and omaha is best for fast rising....being in a down swing live is just mind blowing when know your doing all you can and correctly but you do NOT play enough times cause of your time or your bankroll? etc..these are all considerations to prepare...even the best in world aint gonna win even if play 8 10k tournaments you might not final one of them...but if you do life can change that is for sure:)
biggest thing is confidence even arrogance as long as people dont hate you...especially rake be nice etc..be able to judge people who they really are why are they there....finding victims can be true profit but if they hate you they might not sit at your table etc...

Exactly !!!!
They are two completely different worlds....
And speaking of Annie Duke, it was one of her books that always made me curious about improving my live game....
I still don't know much about Omaha...
Thanks for the report.... 👏👏 👏 👏 👏

Amazing results Scooby!! I'm so pleased for you. Have you put this tournament in the forum to record big or little wins, I don't know the exchange rate?! :)
Its great to see that this dedication to learning and improving has paid off for you in Live poker. I find it so much more fun and more of an interesting pastime than online these days.

I'm also very happy that when you won some money you went for it and played a buy in tournament, you just have to trust your game and play when you want to. Now you have an awesome BR to play more. I see you have another game at the end of September. :) I wish you all the luck in this game!

Great pictures of you too!

Unfortunately, due to my schedule with the Masters, I will not be participating in the tournament.

But I will soon think about a smaller tournament (GTD) but with the same Buy In range.
