Poker table banter and cross talk: Viable strategy, or unacceptable behavior?

I think that at serious events, conversations during the game should be prohibited. In poker, conversations are essentially irrelevant, because everything is decided directly by the actions of the players, and therefore you can easily do without conversations.

It is absolutely ok to talk to each others at the table, it makes it more exciting. It is a chance to get more information. I understand one could be nerved, just ignore and play without talking, that also could stop the concentration when somebody tries again and again to bring you to talk.

I don't think it was a scam. Verbal tactics in poker are, in my opinion, perfectly acceptable, but not as rude as William Kassouf. Offensive behavior at the table creates a bad atmosphere and spoils the game for everyone. This should be done in a polite manner and with respect for other players.

Valid strategy to get you out of your comfort zone. is in one. allow it or not?!! ..... Your reading and achieving an advantage depends on that.... Cold Mind will give a Shield against that type of Players....

Just the thought of Kassouf and his vile behaviour leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Some have mentioned Negreanu's chatter, Helmuth's rants , etc, but these do not harm the other player. Kassouf is destructive and needs to be banned

Talk and banter is great. Nothing worse than being at a table full of mimes. As long as it's in good humor and respectful of other players and etiquette then I'm all for it.

If it wasn’t allowed then the dealer would have to enforce silence. If that was the case then how many of you would actually go play live poker. I go once a month and have made friends doing so. I wouldn’t go if I sat in silence the whole time. That being said I would rather play a friendly vocal player than someone trying to get into my head!
