Poker has a long tradition of drinking during the game .I can't see why eating should be disallowed . That wouldn't make much sense to me .

If it's a meal, I don't like it.
Potential spills, marked cards, etc.
And if they are a piggish eater I'm trapped there to watch.

Should poker players be allowed to eat at the table? Explain your answer. If yes, can it be any kind of food or only specific foods?

No, because some people do not have a basic education for this.

In Hungary, as far as I can remember, food was not allowed at the table, and drinks were not allowed on the table.

Believe it or not, I noticed that when I start eating during online tournaments, I start losing. Maybe I'm just telling myself this?:p

I don't mind people eating if they're hungry, even if they're poker players. I myself can't play when I'm hungry, so I always have pre-made sandwiches. But at least I think it should be some special food, in a package and so on. I would not like to play with fat cards and use chips that smell like fish :)

Some people, like diabetics, need to have some sort of food or snack handy. In my case radiation for cancer means that some of the saliva glands in my mouth are not working properly and I carry a bottle of water with me everywhere. I can't imagine that any player is going to object to a quick mouthful of water at the table itself.

BuI understand those who think no food should be taken at the table. So the a small table nearby seems the best all-round answer, with the dealer able to remind every player who has taken food of the requirement to have perfectly clean hands. I suspect that all the other players would back the dealer if there was any problem with that. Most tables will police the situation themselves, of course.

In my opinion, it shouldn't be, I was recently playing a tournament where there were a lot of people drinking alcohol, and at my table there was a man who was already drunk. In a hand he won on the river he started jumping and spilled beer on the table and deck. This can also happen with food, as it can make the cards greasy and stain the table.

I think eating should not be allowed. During the game, eating food can simply distract others and can be used to their advantage by unscrupulous players. If a player really wants to eat, he can get up from the table and go eat, I don't think that's a problem.

In principle, I do not see a problem, in fact, everything is a matter of personal culture. You can live the gum so that it irritates other players and you can eat the apple in a way that is basically imperceptible. Quick snacks should be allowed, provided they are odorless and make annoying noises, for example when removing chips from the package. I often play live tournaments, I eat dried apricots and no one has ever bothered 🙂

If it's a snack, I don't see why not. But if it's something like fish that has an odor, I'd say no.

I believe it should be allowed! Because it's a long game with a lot of concentration. Because when leaving the table to eat, the person would no longer be focused as before. Of course, with some rules, especially hygiene and education.

Light snacks like chips and dip are always welcome at home games, to go with the beer!

In my opinion, allowing poker players to eat at the table is a matter of etiquette and respect for the game and other players. While I believe in personal freedoms, I also believe in showing courtesy and respect to fellow competitors. Eating at the table can be distracting and even unsanitary in some cases, depending on the type of food being consumed.

If poker rooms do permit eating at the table, it should be limited to specific, non-messy foods that are easy to manage, like a sandwich or a protein bar. This way, it minimizes disruptions and ensures that the playing environment remains as clean and uncluttered as possible.

Ultimately, it's essential for poker players to be considerate of the atmosphere at the table and the comfort of their opponents. It's a social game, and we should strive to make it enjoyable for everyone.

Look, I believe it might even be possible, as long as you have a container for protection, as well as paper to clean your hands. Either way, an accident could be disastrous at the table.

Os jogadores de pôquer deveriam poder comer à mesa? Explique sua resposta. Se sim, pode ser qualquer tipo de alimento ou apenas alimentos específicos?

b43289952da36e2f3405306c38d3ef20.gif
I think it depends on the rules set by each poker house and/or tournament. This is provided that it is defined in advance and informed to the players before the start of the tournament. The rule must be for everyone.
If I agree? No!
should it be banned?
It depends on each poker club. See, many need revenue in addition to their enrollment percentage to stay. I prefer to have a club that opens this concession and works than having to travel to another city to be able to play at the table.

Hugs

I think it should be allowed to eat only small things like snack, bananas, chocolate etc. but things like pizza, cheeseburgers and etc. in my opinion should not be allowed it's simply much harder to eat and concentrate on the game and it will definitely disturb other players at the table :)

If it will be food, from a specially designed menu, then I think it will be quite acceptable. In general, I'm not against the fact that players have the opportunity to have a snack, cookies, sandwiches, some snacks, I think it's quite normal :)

I am against. It can dirty the cards and the table. Every tournament has a break. Let the players adapt. I'm not against drinks but food, my opinion is that it's not suitable.

I think it should be allowed, but there should be some parameters. Messy, sticky, or stinky food should not be allowed! In tournaments, sometimes the breaks are not long enough to eat a snack. People need to be able to eat something to keep up their energy but it should not be something that holds up the game or is offensive to other players.

Poker is a kind of competition, and those who want to eat just have to wait for the break. I don't think any of the players will be so hungry that they will pass out :)

Eating is at the restaurant, at the poker table you have to be focused, eating and concentration have nothing in common.

In my opinion, eating at the poker table should be prohibited, except for bottled drinks (water, cola, tea, etc.), because as the name suggests, it is a poker table, not a dining table. If you are hungry, it means that you are poorly prepared for the tournament/game. Additionally, getting the cards and table dirty with dirt or fat is disgusting. And just like in other competitions, you do not eat while playing, e.g. tennis, basketball, chess. Imagine a basketball player holding a sandwich in his other hand while dribbling the ball, or a tennis player serving with a plate of spaghetti and a fork in his hand (ridiculous), if someone is hungry, let him take a break.
