I never like to show myhand unless its my turn and I have to.

There is no point, unless you got a nit tilted easily kid at table. Show him a nice bluff or not the best hand to get him off his game. :p

Never Ever show your cards EVER! ... Only exception is NEVER!

Why give up any part of your game to your opponent? Your only fooling yourself in the end and giving them information, Even if you don't think your showing anything you might be giving a more experienced player valid information to find your leak or work out a way to play you.

To even consider showing your cards or showing this type of behaviour is showing lack of discipline and you will fail long term. You will run into the same players again and again and theres never telling when you will run into them again. You will lose money as well because people do get curious and will pay to see your cards, and you showing your cards may take away any type of itch... Sometimes tells which some ppl think is like 5% of the game really might be the difference between a winning session and losing session. Somedays a tell could be the difference between a winning day or losing day, Well maybe this will be the cause of a losing day in the end and cause longterm damage. It's worse because you will never be too sure how much damamge it has caused your game.

When you play enough hands with everyone these lil things will strengthen your opponents... Sure you may get a hand where you win but the next time and then the next time! The good players always remember!!!

You can show your hand when your on the BB and the table folds to you. It doesn't matter what your cards are then :)
LOL never tought about this before you saying... Make sense, but there is no point in doing so.:marchmell

I think it only depends on your strategy. If the players around you are tight and you dont get a big ammount of money when you have premium hands, I like to bluff and show the hand in a try to make them more "callable". If they think I am a donk, I will often show a good hand. I think showing cards is a big oppurtunity too confuse the players around you if you know how to do!

This is just my 2 cent..

I show the hands mostly when I want to outsmart my oponents - I know I am b1tch but it helps me to put stres on them... If I show them twice in the row 3 of a kind or better when next time I raise same number of chips - they folds and I mostly dont have not even high card :) Also sometimes I play like having nothing only calling their raises and when they least expect it like on river I go all-in and mostly they call me thinking I am bluffing and most of the time I win it or I am forced to split the pot in worst case :)

Never ever show....I learnt the hard way.
We were playing a MTT NLH game with about 90 players.I was doing well and bluffing a few hands.A new player joined my table with a big stack...a female player who was a beginner and very lucky. She had only been playing poker a few weeks. In the one hand she had KK and never raised as she didnt know she was allowed to(new player!!!).A few limpers and an A came on the flop.SB had A2 and bet and everyone folded except her.The hand was played out and she lost, showing the KK .Anyway a few hands later only her and I were contesting the pot.She had JJ and an A came on the flop...of course she had not raised preflop...and I bet.She folded and I showed 37 off.Everyone smiled and she was ruffled.Anyway,I should NOT have showed, the very next hand I had AK, and raised, everyone folded but she called. The flop was 37A and bet and she called.Turn 7 river 3.She won the pot with K7 .She said when I raised she thought I was bluffing...
NEVER show... never

I show in tournaments when I believe my opponents think I'm really tight and play a weak hand, or steal the pot. It makes your game difficult to read, and you could get paid a lot when you really have strong hands. That's the only reason, the image I give on the table

The only reason to show your cards is if you want to 'tell a story'.

For example, if you want to convince people that you only bet when you have the nuts, then show when you do. If you are lucky and they believe you you can sometimes get away with bluffs with a largish bet. If they believe your 'story', that is. If you have bad timing, as I generally do, you'll pick the one time your opponent has AA and hits their set and all that work goes down the drain.

On the other hand, if you are a TAG or NIT and you get away with an outrageous bluff, showing will make them think you are a bluffer and, again if you are lucky, when you do have the nuts they are likely to donate their stack to you.

In MTTs, the early stages anyway, either you get moved to a new table or lots of new players get moved to yours fairly frequently so there is little chance to reinforce your 'story' so don't bother showing.

In Micro S'n'Gs people tend to get knocked out reasonably quickly, so once again it's not worth showing.

I guess that in Cash Games or the later stages of MTTs it might be worth a try but in those your general play tells it's own 'story'.

All in all probably not worth it unless you are a future Hall of Famer.

The only time I show is when I bluff a hyper aggro LAG out of a good size pot, and even then only when I'm about to leave for the session.

I don't want anyone focusing on me specifically, pick up the pots you can, bet big hands big, and don't get into wars with regs. Pretty universal for most grinders IMO.

LOL, i was going to say, advertising is very frowned upon here and it's wayyyyyyyyy out there. Never never ever show anything.Dang it, he beat me to it hehe. But i agree with a couple posts, show a steal to a hyper aggressive donker, after he puts 90% of his stack in, then folds. Ahh, poetic justice.
