Already have xvid codec installed from last set of video downloads. I will reinstall to see if that is the problem. Thanks.

The alternative is to try something like VLC media player, which generally owns WMP anyway. :p

I'll try and diagnose if there is a problem with the uploads tonight when I get home, though.

Works great on the VLC media player. Still no pic on wmp but after viewing on VLC, wmp is retired. :D
Thanks again.

Yea kinda weird how it won't work on WMP or DivX... It works fine on VLC (Altho I'm not a fan of VLC..)

Anyways, watched the whole thing, very well put together.. These are great learning tools, thank you dork and misch.

Saving the Google vid works for me.

Ooo, I'm getting excited and it's only started downloading! How pathetic is that?

A bit over 3 hours total. Misch and I are planning a second event, there's a thread here about it.

NineLions, is the quality on the saved google vid as crap as the quality on the streaming vid?

Much better downloaded, for whatever reason.

A bit hard to see at 100% just 'cause it's small, but at 200% it's fuzzy but big so easier to see. Probably depends on your video and monitor settings.

I probably learned as much watching Pt 1, as anything I've read in weeks. HOWEVER, I may have lost 3 years worth of eyesight.
My 'messed up' is that the table is out of focus. Oddly, Chris's mouse is not out of focus. The Google screen is not out of focus. I tried it at all the resolutions my flat screen handles.
I hope someone can help me before I do Pt 2.

use the download links, the quality in those is far better.

gvid is really just there for anyone who doesn't care about crap quality and/or doesn't want to download a few pretty big files.

This is a great source of learning. But one thing I see from the video is that these people know how poker is supposed to be played and it looks like they are playing by the rules, raising or folding when you are supposed to. Did you set the tournament up like that for instructive purposes, or is that the way they usually play?

I was only able to watch 15 min of video of the first part because the video kept freezing up on me and then my application would quit. But, It seems like all players were for the most part following the rules of raising when u are in a position or have a monster hand and folding if they did not.

Now my problem is that this is great for seeing how poker is supposed to be played and I am in no way downing this video because I think Dorkus did a wonderful job and did something that I have never seen before, but, Although it helps me to visually see key points and procedures, I do have questions about the myriad of loose players I constantly run into online.

In a perfect world everyone would be following the rules of order and raising/folding as such with the occasional bluff. Most people I run up against are what you guys call donks. I will have and AQ or AA or KK - i will have waited for this card for many hands folding all the while. I raise 4BB and some donk will call with 53o and catch. Or worse, someone will call me all the way to the river with 24s and catch a flush on the river when I AA flop an ace to make trips.

The problem lies where I make my raise appropriately to try to thin the herd, but no one folds and that pretty much deadens my chances to win because I am up against 5 other people - even though I have top pair, trips, whatever.

Another situation I am constantly running into in tournament play is the people who fold constantly, trying to place in the money. but I will try to search the forums or start another topic regarding that.

thank you very much for doing the video. I plan to watch it all if I can do it without freezing my computer up. I have no idea what the divx thing is so I am gonna try google a few more times.

So, Excitedly I took the calm sane feeling I got from watching episode 2 to a sng ..18 seats. I sat patiently watching the maniacs destroy each other till 13 were gone, and I hadn't seen a flop.
Finally a hand occured which could have been part of the episodic replay tourney, I got aggressive and doubled up.

Ended up 3rd. Mostly because I was still short stacked comparitively. BLinds were still low but by the time the 4th guy went out, It was a 15k, 7 k, 5 k thing, and they were getting better cards, as evidenced by the showdowns.

My point here is probably that it must be nicer to play with folks you are very familiar with, whose styles you know. Meantime in the real world, the world is full of coin flippers.
Oddly, I can feel sure my game has improved greatly by watching episodes 1 and 2. If only to re-enforce something I seem to have gotten away from; fold till it's right.

At the lengths of the episodes, I will look forward to finding an hour to finish that tourney view. Short table with folks I have new insight into will be facinating I am sure.

10 years ago, who would have ever thought watching others play poker would be so enlightening?

'Did you set the tournament up like that for instructive purposes, or is that the way they usually play?'

no, the tourney wasn't 'a set up' for instructional purposes

do all the guys always play like that?

who knows? was everybody on their 'on camera behaviour' perhaps to a certain extent

i've seen some of the guys play looser than that and i've seen them play that conservatively

watch the rest, there are some moves

overall, tells you exactly what you knew already, it's a very simple game when you can see all the cards, and a lot more difficult when you can't

Been a member for a short while, but haven't been on lately. Not realizing what I have missed, just want to say that this site along with you 2 guys are great to be associated with. I learned a trick or 2. Sometimes watching a narrative video like this can get a point across far smoother than reading it. Super thing you've done here.

Wow great stuff, I definitely learned a lot, and I dont think it was a coincidence that after I watched the videos i ended up 8/70 and 42/4000 in two different tournaments. Really, great video and thanks

Thanks for a lot of effort that obviously went into this one. Can't wait to see that - I know how WPT Academy was very useful in seeing one guy from start to finish. It's sorta easy to say something about any given hand out of context... but, tournament sidetracks me sometimes and I do stupid things. :)
Thanks again - I'll download it though so am waiting for the download slots to open on MegaUpload.

Finished!...

Wow. Having read 3 poker books, which took much longer to absorb than these 3 clips, my game was changed more by these than them.

Polish these up a bit, and you probably have a money maker here.

Things you might want to think about for the next one;

--Use a more standard method for the video recording.
I used the google clips, but while the google screen was clear, the video part was blurry, as if you had a VidCam sitting there looking at the screen, and there was gauze between it and the screen. I could barely see the cards, and could not read stack size.
The metaupload wanted money.

--Make your mouse pointer the largest possible.

Other than that and the possibility of adding background casino noises, they were fantabulous!

VLC Media Player > WMP.

Aside from making sure you have the xvid codec as talked about earlier in the thread, I can't really suggest anything else. You are extracting the video (.avi) from the .rar file first, right?

The metaupload wanted money.

There's a free download option - just enter the code towards the top right of the screen, wait for the timer to run and hit download in the same spot.

You can also download from google vid somewhere, and the vid is better quality downloaded apparently.

--Make your mouse pointer the largest possible.

Noted, I'll try it with the next one.

Thanks for the feedback, all.
